English school in Calgary: IH

Our partner school, IH, is housed in a modern building at the very centre of Calgary, between the Century Garden and the Bow River. The school has 9 modern a well-equipped classrooms for learning English in optimal conditions. The course centre also includes two computer rooms (PC and Mac) with Internet connection in each, a library, a TV lounge and a kitchenette. Students who have their own laptops will be able to make use out of the WiFi connection. The closest train station (10th Street station) is only 2 minutes' walk away from the school, perfect if you are looking to travel the length and breadth of the most American of Canadian cities. After your English classes, you will be able to take advantage of Millenium Park, directly accessible from the school, in order to play basketball, volleyball or go skateboarding...ideal for relaxing and for having a good time with your friends!

Host family
Living with a Canadian family will allow you to improve your command of the English language on a daily basis and to get to have a deep understanding of the culture and the customs of the country. The families live between 30 and 45 minutes away from the school by public transport. You will stay in a single room with full board provided and will share the common rooms (kitchen, bathroom, living room) with the family members.

Shared apartment
The shared apartment proposed by our partner school in Calgary is located only 3 minutes' walk away from the course centre. Staying on the 22nd floor of a modern building, with a magnificent view of the city and the mountains, it consists of four single bedrooms. The bathroom and the equipped kitchen are to be shared between flatmates. The open dining room serves as a relaxation area and has a flat-screen television. Internet access (WiFi) is free, bedlinen is provided and you will be able to use the paying laundry room. A cleaning service passes every week. On the ground floor of the building, there is a small grocery store and on the top floor, you find a fitness room and a covered swimming pool to which you have free access. The bus stop of the urban network is located in front of the building and you will reach the C-Train station which transports you into the city is a few metres away.

In Calgary, there is no shortage of activities! After your English classes, you will have a thousand opportunities to immerse yourself in the lively and festive atmosphere which continually gives life to the most American of Canadian cities. The International Reggae Festival in Millenium Park, buzzing concert halls,  the Rodeo Royal festival, the trendy bars and clubs of 17th Avenue...get ready! When it comes to excursions, the Rockies await you in Banff (only one hour's drive away) for skiing and snowboarding in the winter and for camping, hiking and rafting in summer. A visit to Edmonton or shopping and entertainment in Alberta at the "West Edmonton Mall, the largest shopping centre in Canada. Your language study trip in Calgary...an experience not to be missed!
