Going to Canada, what’s more to Vancouver, had been my dream since I was a little girl… My stay showed me that it was worth waiting for! An amazing and memorable experience throughout 3 seasons… late summer, autumn, early winter! The colours and landscapes were gorgeous, the city was magical and the population, exceptional. My host family was just amazing and unique and took me to discover its country and culture in the best way possible. The school was really good and offered many extracurricular activities, and the teachers were excellent. Thanks to its location, we had the opportunity to go skiing in Whistler, to go to the Rockies, to visit Vancouver Island and to go to the USA on a shopping trip. I recommend this city to everyone since you will make beautiful encounters and have the time of your life!

Vancouver is my dream destination in Canada. It is a beautiful city with the beach, the sea and gorgeous landscapes. My 8-week language course there is one of the best things I have done in my life and I would do it again right now. Everything was perfectly organised, starting with ESL, the journey, the host family and the school. Everything went very well. And all the people I met were unique! Try it out...

I chose Canada because it really is a beautiful country. Canada offers gorgeous landscapes. I chose Vancouver because it is a really beautiful city, where there is a lot to see and to do. My host family was very nice but also kind of “crazy”. I had a wonderful time in Vancouver. The school was good, I met many people from different countries. Besides, the teachers were funny and dedicated.

I’m Lorraine Grandjean from Switzerland, and I’ve been in Vancouver for 3 months. I’m in a FCE master class, to prepare the FCE test. We practice everything including grammar, vocabulary, listening, writing and reading. We work with FCE preparation material and do exercises, which are similar to real section in the test. Sometimes i have different types of writing assignments for homework as well as reading assignments. Everything in this class is done to succeed in the test, so we practice the same skills many times to be prepared for the test. I learnt a lot of new words, and some grammar points that I didn’t know before.

My speaking has become better too, because I have to speak English all the time with everyone. I’m better at listening now as well, and I’m able to understand more all the different accents, whether it may be British, Canadian or American. My future plan, is at first, to write the FCE test, and then, maybe in December, I’ll pass the CAE test in Switzerland. I’m still in high school, but I might need these tests to study abroad or work in an international company.

ILSC is a very good school, because I am able to meet a lot of people from different countries, and so I’m able to learn not only a language, but new cultures too! The fact that all students must speak English in the buildings is very good because it helps everyone to improve faster by speaking English a lot.

The staff and the teachers are nice and friendly, so it’s easier to study! Moreover, the activities which are provided are really great, so you can discover Vancouver while you’re studying, I’ve appreciated that, and I’d also recommend this school, because it’s in a beautiful city surrounded by the mountains and the ocean, and the Canadians are very friendly.

ILSC is a big school, and I found it very interesting because it offers you a lot of possibilities of courses and activities as I said before.

I finally found an organisation that teaches languages effectively and that is not afraid of using innovative teaching methods: the school of my dreams! An average of 13 students per class, fun yet rigorous learning: this is possible! I was really surprised to see that the teachers were open-minded, available and professional! More than a student /teacher relationship, there was a real exchange in the classroom.

One of my friends recommended me come to Vancouver because of the leisure possibilities related with the nature, Skiing, hiking, climbing, etc. I heart about the different school there were in the city but Jazmin from ESL Basel office explained me about ILSC and Its different options of courses It has. I choose a 30 course, nowadays I'm taking a Management and Human resources in the morning. In the afternoon I have to more classes, Listening and english + yoga. For the next session I will take Cambridge preparation, grammar and the option for study french. Since I arrived I have done some activities. I went to Victoria, and to Seattle for Shopping. I'm planning visit Whistler next month.

I choose Vancouver because a friend of mine recommended it to me. Vancouver is similar to my home country Switzerland, close to the water, in this case the sea, and also the mountains. There are many activities to do related with the nature, like hiking or walking. Vancouver has a good location to travel to other parts of Canada and the USA.

I like ILSC because of its individual programs. You can focus on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and other options. The school has also a lot of different courses; humanities, marketing, management, etc. The only piece of advice I can give you is : do not come here thinking only about one option because sometimes all of the options are not available, but you still have many choices.

One of the reasons I chose Vancouver was hockey. Canada is one of the best countries at hockey all around the world. Everybody recommended me to come to Canada, so I chose Vancouver. Regarding the weather, Vancouver is better than any other part of the country.

I didn't know anything about the different schools in the City, so Stefania told me about the ILSC option and I booked my course at the office of Locarno.

Since I've arrived, I've been attending the communication course and I recommend it because teachers are great and they know how to teach while you socialize with the other students. In the afternoon I'm taking the grammar course (it's a little more complicated).

The activities I prefer are always related to Hockey, so I went to one game and the guided visit of the stadium.

Vancouver … even in the winter, the town is truly beautiful! Canadians are open-minded and friendly. I was lucky to have a lovely host family who did everything they could to make me feel at home in Canada. Best homestay in Vancouver! My internship was a unique experience. My colleagues were great and helped me to improve my English and the job was interesting… In addition to that, I took pleasure in exploring Vancouver Island, discovering the art of native people and snowboarding in Whistler… it was simply unique!

I'm Héline Premand , I come from Switzerland and I have been a student in ILSC Vancouver for almost 3 months. This session I have Cambridge FCE, grammar and vocabulary class. Currently my level is I3. I like the concept that we can choose different kind of class, dependent of what we need. Teachers are really friendly and open-mind, this is a great point. It's easy to make some friends. The rule that students can't speak in another language than english is good! Everything is well, I really enjoy ILSC. Would I recommend the school to my friends? Yes I will. This is a good language school. I feel my English improve in this programm, I have progressed a lot.
