School

Ideally situated in the centre of Bournemouth, our partner school benefits from a perfect location only a stone's throw away from the largest shopping street of the city and five minutes' walk from the beach. The course centre occupies a magnificent Art Deco building and has excellent facilities: fourteen spacious classrooms, a library/study room, a café and a fruit juice bar. The school also includes an Internet area with a WiFi connection. During breaks or after classes, you will be able to relax in the common rooms or go for a walk in the company of the other students beside the sea, located only a stone's throw away from the course centre. Finally, the school distinguishes itself through its "job club" which facilitates access to information concerning jobs for students. In this way, the school becomes a favourable platform for all those who wish to find a part-time job during their studies. This service is free and gives appointments to interested students every 2 weeks for information on potential employers (bars, hotels, promotional work, boutiques, etc.). The participants are informed about the laws and modalities in effect and benefit from a personalised complementary service for correcting/adapting their CVs.

Accommodation

Host family
Our partner school proposes to you to stay with a host family, around 25-30 minutes from the course centre. The families are carefully selected according to their sense of welcome and offer you a welcoming and convivial atmosphere. You will stay in a single or double room (if you are two people travelling together). Bedlinen is made available to you, on the other hand, you will need to bring your own bath towels. You will be able to use the family washing machine once a week. According to your choice, you will benefit from half board, you will receive breakfast only or indeed, you will have access to the family's kitchen for preparing your meals.

Residence Alma Road (from 18 years)
The BSC Bournemouth language school offers more independent students the opportunity to stay in the Alma Road Residence, some 20 minutes away by bus from the course centre and close to the popular areas of Winston and Charminster. You will be accommodated in a comfortable single room in one of the 10 apartments of the residence and share the bathroom and the modern kitchen with your flatmates. A washing machine, an ironing board and free Internet access are available on-site. Bedlinen is provided but towels are not.

Student house (from 18 years)
If you wish to live in a student atmosphere, our partner school proposes to you to stay in student houses, with five other people. They are located around 20 minutes by public transport away from the school and 30 minutes' walk.  You will stay in a single room and will share the bathroom and the kitchen. During moments of relaxation, you will be able to relax in the garden of the house in the company of your housemates or organise barbecue evenings.

Leisure

Our partner school puts an activities programme in place each week which will allow you to practise your English and to get to know the other students. For sports lovers, there will be no shortage of activities, which include football on the beach, volleyball, rollerblading, surfing or bike rides along the seafront.
Each week, you will have the opportunity to participate in excursions to sites of interest in the surrounding areas of the city, including Stonehenge, the Isle of Wight, Lulworth Castle, Oxford and London. And, in the evening, there's no time to get bored either! During a "British Food Party", you will have the opportunity to taste culinary specialities of England. Also on the agenda are pub evenings, a film club and salsa dancing!

Testimonial

Johan Diouf Hi! My name is Johan and I’m from France.

I am a student in political science in Paris and I needed to improve my English and take the IELTS exam in order to be able to study in the USA. When I arrived at the British Study Centres school, I didn’t feel very confident about myself and my English skills but here, everything is designed to encourage students: the lessons are interesting and progress is valued. The teachers are excellent and BSC organises many activities in order to allow students to meet. Located in the centre of London, the school building is thoroughly modern and in the computer room, students can surf the Internet. What’s more, there are many restaurants, pubs and shops just 5 minutes’ walk from the school.
The accommodation options are excellent. Together with other students, I stayed with a host family and we had a great time together.
Besides, as far as I am concerned, the more people I meet, the happier I am! I was therefore impressed by the large number of nationalities represented and I met many new people from diverse backgrounds. I now think I have progressed towards my IELTS exam and I am confident I can pass it and achieve a good grade!
