Punting, King’s College, Great St Mary’s – this is Cambridge. The central library in the shopping centre, the pub The Eagle, the place where DNA was discovered and many English schools – this is Cambridge too.

The renowned English university town, located 80 km to the north east of London and of the same size as Bern, is not famous for its parties, but rather for its teaching tradition. The EC school where I studied English is located in the town centre, right next to the venerable marketplace and the recently inaugurated Grand Arcade commercial centre. If you don’t want to give up parties, even though your course schedule is quite busy, you are welcome to visit the town’s numerous pubs, nightclubs and student houses. Despite the peaceful atmosphere of the place, you can have fun everywhere – because where there are students, there are parties!

Cambridge is a beautiful town. It is neither too big nor too small and it has no reason to be jealous of larger British towns; everything is close at hand. It is a fun city, where it is impossible to get bored! I immediately felt comfortable there and I fell in love with the city!

The school too was great. It is located right in the town centre. It offers lots of activities everyday and the teachers are all very friendly, dedicated and patient. I also had the chance to have a wonderful host family. Now I have only one project in mind: to go back there!

Spending 8 weeks in Cambridge is an incredible and unforgettable experience. The location of the EC school was just perfect. Right in the centre of the town, next to the shopping centre and to Market Square. At lunchtime, I would visit the market and taste some local specialties together with my friends from all over the world.

The teachers were extremely friendly and spent a lot of time with the students, even after classes. For instance, they often took part in the weekly football match in the park or went for a drink with the students.

The various leisure activities too leave no room for boredom: punting on the river Cam, visit of the colleges or of St Mary’s Tower, weekly outings to see musicals, or else weekend excursions to other English and Scottish cities! And of course, you will also enjoy the town of Cambridge, which is simply beautiful, with its narrow streets, its colleges and its numerous parks.

The EC school is a big family, which makes for a wonderful experience!

EC Cambridge has been for me an unforgettable experience, the friendly and familiar relation with the students, teachers and staff made it possible. There are a lot of programmed activities every week, so that you can meet people from different countries and visit the city of Cambridge, small but wonderful. Also, if you stay with a host family, you will enjoy the English culture. I really would like to come back – one month is not enough!
