Our partner school is located on the prestigious George Street, where it occupies a Georgian building with a fantastic view of Edinburgh Castle just minutes from Saint Andrew Square and Princes Street. There are 14 classrooms spread over 3 floors staging exciting and fun classes taught by qualified teachers who love teaching English. Students wanting to do a spot of self-study can use the computer area (free Wi-Fi access throughout the building) and teaching materials available in the study room/library (CDs, DVDs, books, newspapers etc.). At break time, international students head to the large common room to watch the wide screen TV and make plans for the weekend. The best shops, bars, cafés, restaurants and night clubs are just outside the school’s doors, so you can just plunge into Edinburgh’s bustling streets after your English classes!

Accommodation

Host family
Choosing host family accommodation is a unique way to live like the locals and develop your language skills. Your host family will share its culture and traditions with you and will be happy to guide you through the city. Most of our host families live approximately 30 minutes from the school and welcome up to three international students to their single or double rooms. Students are provided with half-board during the week and full-board during the weekend.

Please note that single room accommodation is limited during high season.

Shared apartments
Our language partner school also provides accommodation in shared apartments in the residential areas near the centre of Edinburgh, approximately 30 minutes from the course centre. These apartments are ideal for students who like their independence. The 4-5 bedroom (single and double) apartments are fully-fitted with two bathrooms, a kitchen and lounge with TV and DVD player. Students can also use the washing machine and internet connection is available for those with a laptop. Bedding and towels are provided and changed during the apartment’s weekly cleaning service.

McDonald Road Residence
The brand new residence provided by our partner school is located in the town centre. It hosts students from the University of Edinburgh as well as foreigners who come here to study English. The apartments are shared between 5 to 7 students and include single rooms with en-suite shower rooms and broadband Internet access. The communal kitchen (cleaned once a week) is well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Each apartment has a large and comfortable lounge equipped with Wi-Fi Internet access, TV and vending machines, giving you the opportunity to meet with your flatmates and have lively conversations among international and British students. In the laundry room, coin-operated washing machines and dryers are available for residents’ use. Bedlinen is provided but bath towels are not.

Leisure

Edinburgh: the best of Scotland. The Royal Mile, in the heart of the old town, leads you up to the impressive Edinburgh Castle which dominates the city. Take a free guided tour of the castle with a guard in period dress and learn more about this building’s exciting history, which now hosts the annual parade of the Royal Military Tattoo. In August, don’t miss Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival: almost 4 weeks of intense celebration with parties and street shows in every part of Edinburgh’s city centre.
You will also get a chance to get to know your fellow students by taking part in the activities organised by the school, including Scottish dancing, art gallery visits, live concerts in city pubs, cheese and wine tasting, films, shopping in Glasgow, sport, etc. Weekend optional excursions will take you on a tour of the Highlands to explore the medieval Stirling Castle, Loch Ness and its monster or else the Glengoyne distillery.
