Following my first months spent here, I don't regret my choice. Each day that goes by, Manchester does not cease to surprise me more. The typical and atypical pubs, live concerts, shopping, students on each corner of the street, the "Red Devils" etc... Manchester Academy of English is a school with a great reputation. A great variety of teachers, students from throughout the world, a team who cater for the small needs of students and numerous activities are all the ingredients necessary so that our English is at a top level at the end of our stay. Manchester represents culture and diversity with a nice mix of flavours. This city is therefore the ideal place to improve your skills in the language of Shakespeare.

The school has a central location and is easily reachable by public transport. I met many people of many different nationalities there. Thanks to the teachers and the lively courses they give, I could make great progress. If you are a football fan like me, you need to go to Manchester! I achieved one of my dreams by attending 2 football matches, it was the best atmosphere in the world!!! Apart from football, there is a lot to do in Manchester, you never get bored. The city is filled with shops, bars, night clubs, restaurants. You can also visit many things. My host family is adorable, I really felt comfortable there. In short, my language course was a great experience with a great quality/price ratio and I intend to do it again next year.

I have been living in Failsworth, Manchester with Chris, a 57-year-old lady working at Manchester library, for a week already!! She has a very pretty house with garden, I stay in a large bedroom, everything is perfect in the house and Chris is really nice to me!!
I’m glad I arrived at her place :)
At school, everything is fine, I have a pre-intermediate level, I’m happy.
In Manchester, people are friendly, I’m starting to make new friends, at first it wasn’t easy but as time goes by, and thanks to the school’s activities, I was able to meet other students.

After spending 4 wonderful months in Manchester, I realised that there was more than just rain in England. The city bursts with great activities. I could verify for myself the fact that England, which is known for being the home of football and a place where it is very present, is indeed a great place for football lovers. Manchester is very close to beautiful cities like Chester, Blackpool, Edinburgh or else London, which is 2 hours and a quarter away by train.
The school is well located right in the town centre, close to commercial centres and restaurants. Manchester Academy of English is a good school with excellent teachers. I met plenty of people from different continents there. It was a great, rewarding experience!

If I was somewhat apprehensive before I left, all my fears vanished once I set foot on the English territory. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better welcome from my host family and my first impression about them was confirmed later on. Very friendly, extremely hospitable, caring and flexible. I felt right at home!
As for the city itself, it is magnificent! As I was exploring it, I was satisfied and convinced that I had made the right choice. The town centre is relatively big but allows easy access to all necessary amenities since everything is at walking distance. Generally speaking, the atmosphere in Manchester is unique with a north area consisting of peaceful residential suburbs and a more industrial south area with a modern design.
Regarding the school, I can only recommend it to anyone wishing to learn or improve their English. As far as I am concerned, I felt I was making progress at a very fast pace. On the one hand thanks to the quality of the teaching, which was varied and allowed for individual attention from the teachers, on the other hand thanks to the easy contact with the other students (younger and older) who came from all over the world. The administration and information provided were also very effective.
To conclude, my stay there was unforgettable and I tried to think of any negative aspects in order to be objective, but I could not find any, because there wasn’t any!

As the first week was drawing to an end and I was getting to know the other students at the school, we sometimes stayed longer to play football on the fields scattered in Manchester, eat out, or go for a walk in the town centre with my classmates.
In my family, the mother was a teacher, which greatly helped me to practise English. I spent hours talking to her, asking her things and in the evening, we watched TV shows or went out to exercise together.
As regards the school, on the first week, my teachers were really excellent. Then, I changed classes and I found some of my new teachers were not as good, but on the thirst week, I was taught by the good teachers again. The English classes were nice, we were encouraged to speak, debate and express our opinions, explain things to others… everything was very useful, even though on the first week, I could feel my brain steaming during classes.
