Language school Margate, MLC

Situated in the surrounding area of a park in the city centre, our partner school is housed in a beautiful 19th century building. Close to the train station, it is also only a few minutes' walk away from the town centre and the beach. The modern and comfortable classrooms are equipped with televisions and video recorders. A multimedia centre, a language lab and a library complete the facilities made available in order that you may study in the best conditions. After classes, you will be able to make use of an Internet area (access is free), in the Hawley Club, a bar with a billiards table and piano, table football and televisions. During the summer, the private garden offers a calm and sunny area for you to relax and meet your numerous new friends.

Host family
Staying with a host family will allow you to get maximum benefit out of your stay. This option, chosen by the vast majority of MLC students, allows you to discover the British culture and to practise English daily. All of the families are selected with care by our partner school. The vast majority of the families are situated only a few minutes' walking distance away from the school. A minibus service is organised for students who are staying outside of the centre of Margate. You will stay in a single room with half board provided during the week and full board at weekends.

Residence
For more independent students, the school offers accommodation in "Culver House", situated only a stone's throw away from the school. This beautiful house was completely renovated in 2005 and offers maximum comfort. Staying in a single or double room - if you are travelling as a couple or with a friend -, you will find a TV and video and a private bathroom. The residence makes a WiFi Internet connection, a kitchen with complete and modern equipment and a garden in a private courtyard available to you.It is important to book this accommodation option in advance because the number of places is limited.

Margate Language Centre makes it a point of honour to develop a rich and varied social life for its students. The Hawley Club, open to both students and teachers, is an ideal place to meet, talk, have fun and relax between classes, during meal breaks, in the afternoons and evenings. To complement the vast choice of sports activities that you will find in Margate, such as bowling, tennis, golf, horse riding, sailing, jet skiing and other water sports, our partner school regularly organises half or full day excursions to enable students to discover or revisit Ramsgate, Brighton, Cambridge, Oxford or London. Staying in Margate also gives you the opportunity to take long walks along the coast, to have a beer at the “Tartar Frigate” in Broadstairs (Charles Dickens’ favourite pub) and listen to a weather-beaten fisherman’s extraordinary tales of the sailors who were his ancestors, in a language imbued with salty sea spray and the great open air.
