The school, founded in 1978, is the second oldest school of the International House group, after that of London. On average, the school has 170 students to whom it offers a computer area with 16 computers with free Internet access, a library and a common room for getting to know each other better over a cup of coffee. The school is located at the heart of the city, close to numerous shops, theatres, museums, restaurants and pubs. A team of qualified and motivated teachers awaits you, with excellent personalised follow-up and very good teaching material at hand.

Accommodation

Host family
All families selected by the school live around 15 minutes away from the language school building and offer you accommodation in a single room with half board provided. This is perhaps the best way to get the most out of your stay as you will be completely immersed in the English culture and language. You can also chosse the option 'without meals', and meet up with your friends in the city to eat.

Shared apartment "Charlotte House" (from 18 years old)
Only five minutes away from the school, three, four or five students share one of the apartment made available by "Charlotte House". This is a dream opportunity to make friends from across the globe, knowing that each student has his/her own bedroom in which they can study or get away from it all at any time. The students share a kitchen, living room and bathroom.

Leisure

The school organises a varied program of activities all year round, including cultural outings and excursions. You can visit, for example, Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, York, a beautiful example of a medieval town, Dunstanburgh and its 13th century castle, or Durham and its cathedral, built by the Normans. For nature-lovers, The Lake District is a must-see. Some go as far as saying that it is one of Europe’s most magnificent regions. At the very least, it is the most famous national park in England.
