I am very happy with the teaching content as a student and a teacher myself.

As for the city and its surroundings, I think that it is perfect for short and long stays as the city is small and rich in history. I can’t say much about its nightlife as I prefer to concentrate on the language side of things… the reason for my stay is more important than anything else.

The teachers seemed expert in their subject (which you would expect from such a reputable school) and pedagogically the exercise in style was really effective. During the course I changed my course as I thought the One to One Programme was better suited to my own way of learning; it was easy to change courses and the cost wasn’t astronomical.

As for other things like the host family, I think that it depends on personal taste. What is essential is to appreciate the moment as it happens without asking oneself existential questions.

Despite a relatively long trip from Stansted to Portsmouth (4 hours), it was very important for me to get immediately involved with the English people and their language (asking for information, bus tickets).

I’m planning to go back to Portsmouth next year, but not in a host family, in an apartment this time.
