International House

The school is located in a beautiful 3-storey neo-classical house in the centre of the city. It is part of the International House language school network, an organisation represented in over 40 countries, whose main goal is to guarantee the highest standards in language teaching. It is a medium-sized school with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The school has 13 classrooms, a study room, a computer room with free Internet access, a cafeteria, a big terrace and parking.

Accomodation

Host family
Staying in a host family is the best way to have closer contact with the language, particularly common expressions and everyday German, as well as plunging into the country’s culture. Families are carefully chosen in terms of comfort, friendliness and concern for students; the school regularly checks families. They live an average of 30 minutes from the school, and offer single rooms with two daily meals.

Student residence
The residence is located in an 8-storey building 10 minutes by tram from the school on a direct line. You will stay with other international language students as well as German university students in an environment that encourages social contact and the use of the language. You will stay in a single room with private bathroom and all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay. Each floor has a kitchen at your disposal.

Leisure

International House organizes social activities, film screenings and a weekly traditional “Stammitsch”, where teachers and students visit a pub and have a drink, allowing you to practise your German in a natural and relaxed way. The school’s activities service will guide you through all the sporting and cultural activities the city has to offer. Every week, you will be invited to take part in excursions to Freiburg’s surroundings (e.g.  The Black Forest, Colmar or Strasbourg).
