Shanghai
A commercial port for thousands of years, Shanghai enjoys all the advantages of its position on the delta of the Yang Tse Kiang. It is the main international trading port of the country. There, merchandise is received from around the world and transported into the heart of China via the majestic Yang Tse Kian, the longest river in Asia, stretching over 6,500km. This megalopolis is one of the most sprawling and heavily populated in the world. The city is separated into two parts by one of the branches of the “river of rivers”. On the left bank you will find Puxi, where the main attractions and monuments of the city are located, whereas the other bank, Pudong, is home to the business district. By day and by night, people stroll along the “Bund”, the most famous walk of the town with its elegant colonial facades dating from the beginning of the century. The street of Nankin, the main artery of the city measuring over 5km long, is also the main shopping street. The crowds of pedestrians and banner upon banner of famous brand names are enough to give you vertigo, but certainly not as much so as the new telecommunications tower on the same street, which is 460m high and fluorescent at night to indicate which direction to take.
