After having been explored by the French and the Spanish, Colorado joined the United States of America in 1876, the 38th State to take this step. The second half of the 19th century was a real golden age for its capital, Denver. Attracted by the gold rush, the colonists flowed into this city at the foot of the Rockies. It was one of the most modern cities of the American West; today it is just as prosperous. A unique large midwestern city, Denver has everything that you would expect to find in a modern metropolis, plus an exceptional quality of life. Denver is in fact one of the safest, cleanest and friendliest cities in the United States!
