You can take a sailing boat from St Malo or Granville to get to this charming island. Even if you don’t have time to wait for perfect sailing conditions, arriving in the Channel Islands is always a magical moment. With a surface area of 116 km2 and a population of 90 000 inhabitants, Jersey is a little paradise on the English Channel, with all the features of a larger resort: the birthplace of surfing in Europe, clean beaches, idyllic scenery and a pleasant climate from Spring to Autumn. The capital, St-Helier, is known internationally as a financial centre and also possesses all the gastronomic pleasures of a larger city with all kinds of excellent restaurants and great places to taste a fresh catch. Eric Tabarly, who has without doubt seen all of the world’s islands, was particularly fond of the Channel Islands. Eleven metres of seashore, scenery that changes every quarter of an hour and thousands of little granite islands that disappear and reappear with the rise and fall of the sea: fascinating.
