The city of Newcastle boasts an impressive list of awards: 8th place in the world in the “party-city” category, listed in the top ten most “creative places” in the world and, the cherry on the cake, it was voted second best city in Europe for its “social life”. No other English city features on these lists. Needless to say, they know how to party here and it is almost impossible to get bored! What’s more, the quality of the public transport network will encourage you to roam about the town, from pub to concert hall, cinema to theatre, art gallery to museum, restaurant to nightclub, street market to shopping mall, rugby stadium to football field: a train station is never far away. Although it is a modern city, Newcastle is also rich in history, as is evidenced by Hadrian’s Wall and other magnificent sites. Exploring the city’s surrounds, you will quite literally enter into the world of Harry Potter, as it is here, in Northumbria, that certain scenes of the famous saga were filmed, in cinema’s most sought after castles.
