Bologna, capital of the Emilia-Romagna region and the seventh largest city in Italy, stretches out between the Apennine mountains and the plain of the Po River. Its location is that of a crossroads: between la Via Emilia, the principle road link of the region, and the road that links Veneto to Florence and Rome. At the heart of a rich agricultural region, the stronghold of Ducati, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Alfieri Maserati developed on the right bank of the Reno River. Among Italy’s big cities, Bologna is the one which has remained closest to the traditional model. Its centre has been preserved and renovated, it is rich in maginificent monuments, whose streets and archways play host to an abundant cultural and student life. First class amenities, a quality media industry, numerous banks and a renowned university all contribute towards making this beautiful medieval city one of the great cities of modern Europe. It is also a place where you can live well too, if we are to believe the Italians who chose Bologna as the place where they would most like to live according to a recent survey.
