Córdoba is a small city of more than 300,000 people which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Iberians, the Romans, the Visigoths, the Arabs, the Jews and the Castilians have all inhabited it. La Juderia, the former Jewish district, the Mesquite (Mosque), a pure jewel of Omayyad architecture, converted into a cathedral under the rule of Charles V, or the Azahara Medina all remind you of its rich historical blend of cultures. Situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River and at the foot of the Sierra Morena mountains, you can imagine Cordoba as a starting point for visiting other cities in Andalucia, located between one and three hours away by car, or for organising nice excursions in the surrounding mountains.
