San José, the capital of Costa Rica, is a modern and cosmopolitan city. Nevertheless, its diverse museums and cultural centres still bear witness to its rich past. San Rafael de Coronado is located about 12 kilometres north of the capital, just near the Braulio Carrillo reserve, a superb national park where you can find volcanoes, the jungle and waterfalls. With a setting between the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean, and mountain ranges stretching across it, Costa Rica is a real paradise for nature lovers. It was the first Latin American country to develop ecotourism, putting forward its luxurious vegetation, exotic fauna and the incredible biodiversity of its land.
