The small town of Whistler with its 9500 inhabitants is situated in the region of Whistler-Blackcomb, known for its large skiable area, the largest in North America, Whistler, located 115 km to the north-east of Vancouver, is a very fashionable winter sport resort. In addition, it is here that the 2005 Snowboard World Championships and Alpine ski tests of the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver took place.
