Our partner school occupies a typical Mexican building in a lively district, a few minutes from the beach of Playa del Carmen. The ten modern and air-conditioned classrooms are distributed over two floors, with a view over a magnificent exotic garden, and the atmosphere is relaxing and suited to the learning of Spanish. The school includes a terrace where you will be able to relax after classes. Within the grounds of the course centre, hammocks are also available for students' use. A few minutes' walk away, you will find numerous restaurants, shops and internet cafés. The school also has a WiFi connection.

The Academia Columbus school in Playa del Carmen proposes to you to carry out an unpaid internship in a local or international company. It will be possible for you to work as an intern in various domains of activity such as tourism, marketing or even administration. For example, you will be able to carry out an internship in a travel agency, in a hotel or within a medical centre.
Internships are a proof of flexibility and determination and constitute an enriching of your personal path. By carrying out an internship, you will have the opportunity to put your language skills into practice in the professional domain of your choice.
In order to participate in this programme, you must have taken a minimum of two weeks of classes, if you have an advanced level (C1). Generally speaking, it is necessary to carry out approximately eight weeks of classes in order to continue with the internship. In order to perfect your language skills in a precise domain of activity, the Academia Columbus school also proposes to you to follow a tailor-made or intensive programme. If you carry out an internship in marketing, you will be able, for example, to participate in supplementary classes based on the required vocabulary in this sector of activity. A minimum B1 or B2 language level (according to the domain of activity of the internship) is required.
In general, the minimum duration of the internship is eight weeks, but some domains of activity require you to carry out an internship during at least 12 weeks. Our partner school recommends having previous experience in the domain of activity chosen or to have begun or finished studies related to the professional sector.
The participants in the programme must be at least 18 years old and will need to provide a cover letter and CV in Spanish during enrolment. Internships are available throughout the year and it is preferable to enrol two to four months prior to starting this programme. If you are staying in Mexico for more than 180 days, you will need to obtain a visa prior to departure. $

Accommodation

Host family
You have the possibility of staying with a host family, 5-20 minutes' walk away from the course centre and the beach. The famiiles propose to you to stay in a single or double room (if you are two people travelling together) and offer you breakfast or half board.

Shared apartment
Our partner school offers you the possibility to stay in a shared apartment. Located 10-15 minutes away from the course centre, the spacious apartment includes a living room with television, a fully equipped kitchen and one or several bathrooms. You will stay in a single bedroom or one with several beds (maximum of 4). The apartment is cleaned once a week and bedlinen is provided. On the other hand, you are asked to please bring your own bath towels.
