Language school Dublin, International House (IH)

WiFi is free.

School

Our partner school is established on the campus of Independent Colleges, a prestigious university located in the very heart of Dublin. IH Dublin shares a building with this institution, which enjoys a very central situation, right next to Trinity College and Grafton Street. This location gives international participants plenty of opportunities to meet and spend time with Irish students and young people living in Dublin.

The teaching staff makes use of 15 classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards as well as DVDs and multimedia facilities to motivate the students to learn English. Hot and cold meals – and real Italian coffee – are served in the large cafeteria at advantageous prices. In the student lounge, which is common to both IH and the host university, you can socialise with participants from the whole world as well as Irish students, or else play snooker. You will also be able to use the large library and self-study room as well as all of the resources available. Computers can be used freely in the computer room. Free Internet access via Wi-Fi is available throughout the school.

Courses

Semester, academic year
Our IH partner school offers an ideal study programme for long-term stays. You will be able to acquire sound language skills and validate them thanks to an official exam (Cambridge, IELTS). If your objective is to obtain an everyday command of English and to gain a deep understanding of the Irish mentality and lifestyle, what better way than finding a job! IH Dublin proposes a specific service, the "job club" which facilitates the access to information concerning student jobs. The school therefore serves as an interface for those who wish to find a part-time job during their studies. The job club gives appointments to interested students for information on potential employers (bars, hotels, promotional work, boutiques, etc.) and informs the participants of the laws and modalities in force. Free of charge, the job club also offers a complementary personalised service for correcting/adapting the CVs of students.

Accommodation

Host family
The Irish are renowned for their sense of hospitality. Living with then will allow you to make rapid progress in English and to familiarise yourself with the local culture. The families are mostly situated in the south part of Dublin, just like the school. They live in residential areas, often in houses with gardens. The students stay in single rooms with half board provided.

"Charleston Road Apartments" Residence
The residence proposed by our partner school is located to the south of Dublin city, in a district which is very popular with students. It will only take you 7 minutes by tram or 20 minutes by foot to reach the course centre and the heart of the city. The bedrooms are situated in a ravishing 19th century building which has been entirely renovated. The single or double bedrooms (in which case the booking must be made for the two people at the same time) all have a private bathroom, a kitchenette and a corner lounge with television. A very pleasant garden is situated behind the building and there are parking spaces for cars and bicycles. Bedlinen is provided, but not bath towels. The bedrooms are only cleaned when the residents leave. There is free Internet access via WiFi throughout the building. You will have access to a free laundry room.

"Archway Court Apartments" Residence
This residence is located on the North side of Dublin’s city centre, close to the shopping facilities of Henry Street and O’Connell Street and around 15 minutes away from the school building by public transport. The residence opens onto an inner courtyard and offers several spacious, fully furnished apartments. Each apartment consists of 4 single rooms, two bathrooms, a common comfortable TV lounge and a fully equipped kitchen. To take advantage of the free Wi-Fi access, please bring your laptop and connection lead/wire with you. Coin-operated laundry facilities are located in the basement of the residence. Bedlinen is provided but towels are not. Students are responsible for keeping the apartment clean.

Leisure

The school offers a varied program of leisure activities that showcases the numerous riches of the Irish culture while creating an environment that is conducive to meeting other students and practising the language outside of class. Students can discover the city, which is considered to be one of Europe’s most dynamic capitals, at their own pace, with its hundreds of pubs and a rapidly expanding music scene. The contrast is even more surprising once you are outside of Dublin: the Irish countryside offers spectacular scenery, studded with legends and the magic of days gone by.

Testimonial

Roxane Le Meur Studying at International House Dublin is very interesting if you want to improve your level of English.  Every day, there is a lively social and cultural programme.  The school is located near the city centre and the people are friendly and out-going.  I love my classroom and my teachers because they always find a way to interest me.  I have made lots of new friends from different countries who I talk to and go out with in the evenings.
