Language school Tokyo, ISI

WiFi is free.

School

Our partner school, ISI, in Tokyo is located in the Takadanobaba district, only a stone's throw away from the Takadanobaba metro station on the JR Yamanote line. In this very lively district of Shinjuku, you are in the very centre of Tokyo. Universities, a large library, sports halls, cultural centres and a wide variety of restaurants and shops make up the decor of this dynamic sector of the capital. The course centre is modern, large and the atmosphere is convivial. You will get to know students there from throughout the world! In 20 comfortable classrooms, the teachers use modern tools in order to make the learning of Japanese exciting and varied. A large common "open space" lounge allows for lively discussions. The library and the computer room provide information complementary to the Japanese course. Vending machines for snacks and drinks are available and hot water allows you to prepare coffee and tea. A WiFi connection is also freely available throughout the building.

Accommodation

Guesthouse
ISI Language School-Tokyo proposes staying in a guesthouse (Nishi-Kawaguchi, Warabi or Shiki). This is the option which is most often chosen by European students. You will have your own small bedroom and will share the common areas (kitchen/dining room, laundry, showers, living room with TV and Internet zone) with the other residents. You will need to allow for around 45 minutes by metro to get to the school, and around 18'000 yen per month for transport costs.

Host family
This is the ideal option if you wish to immerse yourself in the daily life of the Land of the Rising Sun. In this country with a very different culture, staying with a Japanese family is reassuring and allows you to discover the lifestyle of a family living in Tokyo. You will stay in a single room and receive half board accommodation. The families live within 1 hour to 1 hour 30 of the course centre by public transport.
For some students, homestay accommodation is a convenient option to settle in Japan for the first few weeks. Then they have the possibility of choosing another accommodation type among those offered by the school in order to discover a different, more independent way of living in the Japanese capital.

Weekly Mansion Takadanobaba
The asset of this accommodation option is that it is located close to the course centre, so you can easily walk to the school in the mornings. You will stay in a single room. Please note that you cannot prepare your meals on-site. However, there are many restaurants in the immediate surroundings that will allow you to taste local dishes as well as international cuisine, which is well-established in Tokyo. You will have access to Wireless Internet, bedlinen and bath towels are provided.

Leisure

After class, you will certainly find plenty to occupy your afternoons and evenings. Travel around Tokyo, from the Imperial Palace to the Electric Town of Akihabara, passing through the City of Dolls (Ningyocho). Do some shopping, learn about Japanese tea ceremonies, take a course in Ikebana or contemplate, your nose to the sky, the way-out designs of Metabolist architecture. Anything is possible in the immense capital of Japan. The school will also give you ideas and advice on what to do and see: climbing trails on Mount Fuji, water sports in summer and hiking, ice-skating, skiing and snowboarding in winter.

Testimonial

Marine Agostini Tokyo is a fascinating town and the trip was very well-organised. When I arrived, I found the accommodation in the Guest House was very nice and the atmosphere was multicultural, which allowed me to make new friends rapidly. The ISI school is beautiful and the courses are very dynamic. This way, you learn very fast. The activities organised by the school are very interesting. I could take part in a tea ceremony and a city tour. My whole stay was simply great. But a month is definitely too short if you want to see all of the attractions of the Tokyo metropolis.
