Language school Boston, Harvard campus

School

During your language course, you will be staying in Cambridge on the prestigious campus of Harvard University, the oldest American university, which draws students from the whole year every year and belongs to the very selective Ivy League group. 20 minutes away by public transport from Boston’s heritage centre, the campus is set on the banks of river Charles and surrounded by a verdant garden. More independent students will find here a course centre that will allow them to learn English and thrive in an environment where they can meet new people and practise activities. And since the campus is located close to Boston, the various excursions organised by the school will allow you to discover this fascinating city and its attractions – you are going to love it!

Courses

Standard English course
Lessons: 20 of 50 minutes
Course duration: 2 - 6 week(s)
Level: Beginner to Advanced

Minimum age: 14 years
Daily schedule:

Lessons: 20 of 50 minutes
Levels: beginner to advanced
Students/class: max. 15

On arrival you will sit an evaluation test designed to assess your language skills. This will allow teachers to place you in a class with students of the same level. There are never more than 15 students in each group, which enables teachers to closely follow students’ progress and encourage individual efforts. You will soon make friends with students who will be willing to share with you the language courses of the morning as well as the afternoon activities. The course material is provided and at the end of your stay, you will receive a certificate attesting the language level achieved.

Accommodation

Residence
The residence is located on the campus and features all the necessary facilities to ensure you a pleasant stay. You will be accommodated in a single room and will share the bathroom with other students. There are common areas where you will be able to meet up with your friends from the whole world and have some interesting conversations with them. In your room, you will benefit from free internet access via an Ethernet cable if you have a laptop. Coin operated laundry facilities are also at your disposal. The cafeteria will welcome students everyday for the three meals. If you go on a full-day excursion, you will be given a lunch pack before departure. 24-hour supervision will be ensured by the school staff, who also stays at the residence.

Leisure

A minimum of 11 activities are organised every week! This leaves no room for boredom, quite the contrary! You will be delighted by the great variety of leisure activities proposed. On the campus, discos, movie nights or karaoke are scheduled. As regards sports, you will practise swimming, table tennis, basketball, football, biking, bowling and so much more! Some theme activities such as student nights, Vegas night, and stargazing will definitely be appreciated. Finally, excursions (one full-day and one half-day per week) will allow you to discover the city of Boston: shopping, visit of the Franklin Park Zoo, a day at the beach, whale watching, the Aquarium, a visit to the famous Quincy market, etc. And all this will be conducted in English, of course, as part of a language course full of discoveries! You will return home with a head full of cultural memories and idiomatic expressions!

Information

Passport info
If you are of Swiss or European nationality, no visa is necessary to participate in the programme, insofar as you are in possession of a valid biometric passport which is valid for at least six months following your return date, in accordance with current legislation. Nevertheless, students need to get an electronic travel authorisation, to be completed online a minimum of one week prior to departure (credit card necessary to pay for US administration file handling fees). Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Flight info
Boston is a great destination for a language study trip abroad. However, you must know that the journey to get there is relatively long with, generally, one stopover, depending on which city you are flying from. Most airline companies will be able to offer you an accompaniment service; therefore do not hesitate to contact us for further information. It is necessary, however, that the student feels capable of managing this long journey. Then, all he/she has left to do is to enjoy American life!
