The Spanish as a Foreign Language Diplomas (DELE) are the official diplomas for recognising different levels of competence and mastery of the Spanish language. They are presented by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Minister for Education and Science.

DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera)

The DELE exams are divided into three levels:

*Inicial: basic level of communication
*Intermedio: the candidate is able to manage in everyday situations
*Superior: certifies an advanced level of communication in all day-to-day situations necessitating a specific vocabulary.
