Language school Brighton, Junior programme (13–17 years)

School

The course centre is located on the Ovingdean campus, 30 minutes by bus away from the city centre. In this way, the programme allows at once to enjoy the proximity of Brighton, whilst living in a safe environment in a green village with all of the facilities on-site. The residence is only a 5 minutes’ walk from the cafeteria and the classrooms. The campus also has large outdoor areas where you can meet with the other participants and practise English outside of class. The students also have access to several common rooms, to a theatre, to a sports complex and to a swimming pool. It is in the campus cafeteria that the three daily meals will be served, except in the case of an excursion when a packed lunch may be distributed. All in all, ideal conditions for making great progress in English!

Accommodation

Host family
This is the best way to take part in British family life. The school staff in charge of welcoming you visits the families on a regular basis so that you will feel at ease in their homes. You will take your breakfast there as well as your evening meals at weekends. During the week, evening meals will be served in the school before evening activities. You will usually have lunch in the school or in one of the city's numerous restaurants , except on excursion days, when a packed lunch will be distributed.  Depending on availability, you will share your bedroom with a student of a different nationality, unless you would prefer the company of a friend.
Please note: this type of accommodation is best suited to autonomous students who will manage to get to the school on their own using public transport.

Residence
Situated within the grounds of the Ovingdean campus, 30 minutes away from the city centre of Brighton, this residence is ideal for students who are taking classes on the campus itself. The students stay in triple or quadruple rooms and share the bathrooms. Bedlinen and towels are provided and changed each week. A coin-operated launderette is also available. Meals are served in the campus cafeteria or upon remittance of a meal voucher in one of the city's numerous restaurants. On excursion days, you will be given a packed lunch. WiFi internet access is available on the campus itself. Finally, in order to ensure the well-being and safety of the students, the school staff stays in the residence. Our ESL Group Leader also stays on-site.

Please note: for students who are staying with a host family but also those staying in the residence, it is important to allow for GBP 18 per week (~ CHF 30 / EUR 20) for public transport in Brighton.

Leisure

You can never get bored in Brighton! For example, your group leaders will take you to visit the Royal Pavilion, the fascinating Sea Life Centre, or the impressive cliffs of the Seven Sisters national park. But afternoons are also dedicated to sports with your activities coordinators, including ice-skating, golf, football, beach volleyball and much more. In the evenings...it's party time! You will be able to enjoy yourself during the parties organised by the school and experience memorable bowling or cinema evenings. A full-day excursion to London will allow you to visit a multitude of monuments, including the Houses of Parliament, Westminister Abbey or the Tower of London before stopping off for a picnic in one of the royal parks of the capital. Finally, give into some window shopping on Bond Street or in one of the souvenir shops in Oxford Circus. Your group leaders know the city well and will be enthusiastic in showing you around it. Don't hesitate, London is ready and waiting for you to discover it!
