Accommodation
Host family
This is the best way to take part in British family life. An EC team, in charge of welcoming you, visits the families on a regular basis in order that you will feel at ease. You will take your breakfast and the evening meal there. You will take your lunch in the school or against remittance of a meal voucher in one of the city's numerous restaurants. Depending on availability, you will share your bedroom with a student of a different nationality, unless you would prefer the company of a friend.
Please note: this type of accommodation is best suited to autonomous students who will manage to get to the school on their own using public transport.
Varley Residence
Located within the grounds of the University of Brighton, 40 minutes away from the city centre, this residence is ideal for students who wish to have a bit more independence. The students stay in single bedrooms and share the bathrooms. Breakfast and the evening meal at wekends are taken in the cafeteria of the residence. Lunch and the evening meal are taken in the school or in the city, in one of the numerous restaurants, during the week except in the case of an excursion where a packed lunch will be distributed. The bus stop is located right in front of the residence and the course centre is around 20 minutes away by bus. The school's staff stays in the residence in order to assure the well-being and safety of the students. Our ESL Group Leader also stays there.
Please note: for students who are staying with a host family but also those staying in the residence, it is important to allow for GBP 16 per week (~ CHF 37 / EUR 23) for public transport in Brighton.

Leisure
You can never get bored in Brighton! Your group leaders will bring you to visit, for example, the Royal Pavilion, the Sea Life Centre, the castle and town of Lewes or even Brighton Museum and Art Gallery. But afternoons are also dedicated to sports with your activities coordinators, including ice-skating, golf, football, beach volleyball and much more. In the evenings...it's party time! You will be able to enjoy yourself during the parties organised by EC and experience memorable bowling or cinema evenings. A full-day excursion to London will allow you to visit a multitude of monuments, including the Houses of Parliament, Westminister Abbey or the Tower of London before stopping off for a picnic in one of the royal parks of the capital. Finally, give into some window shopping on Bond Street or in one of the souvenir shops in Oxford Circus. Your group leaders know the city well and will be enthusiastic in showing you around it. Don't hesitate, London is ready and waiting for you to discover it!
