The school enjoys an ideal location on the Grand-Rue in Montreux with easy access to all urban amenities, such as banks, shopping centres, the post office, shops, bars and restaurants. The train and bus stations are also close-at-hand. The school consists of 8 well-equipped classrooms, a multimedia room with free Internet access and Wi-Fi for laptops, and a common room including vending machines for snacks and drinks and a terrace. The academic language course programme takes place over 6 or 9 months and is aimed at students from 16 years. Students can choose between the standard course with 20 lessons per week and the intensive course with 25 lessons per week. The standard course is suitable for students who wish to study French intensively in the morning and enjoy some free time in Montreux and its surroundings in the afternoon in order to put the language knowledge learnt in class into practice and discover the culture of the French-speaking part of Switzerland. In addition to the standard course, the intensive course includes 5 extra lessons that are dedicated either to oral communication or to DELF exam preparation. The students can choose from the two options. The ESL school is also an examination centre for the TCF and TEF exams, so you can take these exams directly on-site.
The duration of the course and the small size of the classes (max. 12 students per class) make for personalised contact between students and teachers and allow teachers to support students individually and help them work on their weaknesses. The long-term language course is therefore ideal for students wishing to study French over a long period of time and acquire strong language skills.
The course starts every Monday of the month, throughout the year. Besides, the classes are tailor-made according to each level, from beginner (start dates available upon request) to advanced.

Accommodation

Host family
ESL selects the host families with great care. The students stay in double rooms that they share with another student from the school. Single rooms are available upon request. ESL knows all of the families personally. Half board is provided. Host family accommodation is the best way to immerse yourself directly in the French language and thus achieve rapid progress. The students practise the language during daily conversations with the family, which gives them an opportunity to learn more about the mentality and lifestyle in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Leisure

The school also offers a wide range of sports and cultural activities - including beach volley afternoons, romantic beach evenings or else visits in the Lake Geneva region - in order to allow students to use the language knowledge learnt in class on a daily basis. In the summer, many outdoor activities available, for instance swimming in the beautiful swimming pools of the area or boat trips on Lake Geneva. Excursions to Lausanne, a visit to the Olympic Museum and other outings will also be scheduled. These activities can be booked every Monday at the course centre.
