Housed in an elegant building, the school has a large garden, a terrace and a heated outdoor pool. The school is located just ten minutes from the town centre where you can enjoy a large choice of restaurants, shops, sport complexes and attractions. The centre of Eastbourne, accredited by the British Council and member of English UK, offers a quality academic environment. It is adapted to cater for all ages above the age of 14, in an enriching and international study setting. At Eastbourne, facilities include multimedia equipment with free internet access, VCRs, a DVD library and a language laboratory. A well-equipped educational library provides a peaceful corner for quiet study and the lively canteen looks out onto the terrace and gardens.

Courses

The programme offered to persons of 14 years and over is designed for both short term English study (starting from 2 weeks all year round) and long term. With its programmes of two or three trimesters, it's the ideal solution if you are planning to study English for more than six months. The curriculum includes 28 lessons of general English per week, and classes comprise of a maximum of 12 students. For the long term programmes, the starting dates fall once a month. If you take the long term programme, you will enjoy special reductions for lessons and accommodation. You will have the opportunity to add special courses to your programme, such as business English or English for tourism, as well as preparatory courses for exams such as the Cambridge exams, IELTS or TOEFL. St Giles college offers an academic orientation and university placement service.
Total immersion of six or nine weeks in English language and culture is an extremely enriching linguistic and human experience which will be useful throughout your entire life.

Accomodation

Host family

Your accommodation is part of your learning experience, so the school takes extra care to select the native English-speaking host families in which students are placed. Two students of the same mother tongue will never be placed in the same family. You will sleep in an private room with breakfast and evening meals included. This experience will provide you with precious memories and the special contact you will have with family members will allow you to create bonds that may last for your entire life.

Leisure

In order to compliment your studies and to encourage you to use your English in a social context, we offer a complete programme of activities and excursions. Salsa lessons are organized, for example, as well as cinema, theatre, karaoke or disco evenings. In your free time, you can challenge your friends to go-karting, a laser game or bowling. If you prefer open air activities, you can opt for a bike tour or horse riding, or simply for a walk on the beach and in the surrounding area. A seaside town, Eastbourne offers all the aquatic and nautical activities you can imagine. Excursions to London, Cambridge or Dublin are organized by St Giles college. A visit to the neighbouring region of Beachy Head is particularly worth a visit. Its majestic chalk cliff measuring 160 metres overhanging the ocean offers an extraordinary view and a landscape unique to Great Britain.
