School

Our partner school LAL in Boca Raton welcomes students aged from 14 to 17 years old and who are not complete beginners in English. It is located on the campus of Lynn University, one of the most secure in the country, surrounded by nearly half a square kilometre of water and greenery. Here, you will have access to the library and computer room (free Internet) and take pleasure in experiencing the typical lifestyle of an American student. Recreational facilities like swimming pools, gym and sporting grounds where you can play tennis, volleyball, basketball and football are also available to you every day at specific times. The campus in question is located 3 kilometres from the closest beach and right near one of Boca Raton’s large shopping centres. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Orlando are also within easy reach.

Courses

On the first day of the course, the young students attend an information session during which they each receive a Welcome Pack and identity card, and the school’s staff are introduced to them. They sit a placement test allowing them to join a class corresponding to their language level on the same day. The English course consists of 20 lessons of 45 minutes per week, in sessions of 2, 3 or 4 weeks and sports and cultural activities during the afternoons and on weekends. If you are of Swiss or European nationality, no visa is necessary for participation in this program as long as you are in possession of a valid, optical scanning passport, according to current law.

Accommodation

Students stay on the campus of Lynn University. In a triple room with a private bathroom, you will also have a safe available to you and free Internet access in the computer room. Each block of bedrooms is also equipped with a TV room and games room. A cleaning service and 19 meals per week, eaten at the university cafeteria, are included.

Leisure

Besides activities such as sports, games or film evenings on campus, three external activities spread out over the working days are included each week. These could include an afternoon on the beach, shopping or a visit to a tropical forest where you can discover birds and butterflies, flowers and exotic tropical plants; or, during the evening, the cinema, disco or why not a visit to the Buehler Planetarium to learn more about astronomy and star gaze through a telescope! Weekend excursions are generally at an extra cost and are optional: excursion to the Everglades national park, to Disney World, Miami or the NASA Kennedy Space Centre, tours of MGM studios, Universal Studios or its adventure island… All these activities are supervised/accompanied and allow you to practise English outside of class time and, especially, to make new friends from all over the world.
