LAL-Torbay Language Centre(TLC)
The school is situated in a residential area of Paignton, close to the centre. The language centre contains 32 light and comfortable classrooms, a library, a bookshop, and a multimedia room. You can access the internet for free in the computer room. There is a cafeteria where you will find everything you need to satisfy your appetite. To relax with your friends after lessons, you will be able to enjoy the school garden and the student lounge with a sea view.

Courses

English lessons are divided into four periods of 45 minutes per day, with a morning timetable from 08.30 to midday or the afternoon from 14.15 to 17.30. It is possible for students to choose their timetables when they arrive, depending on available places and placement according to level, which is evaluated on the first day. Whatever your timetable, you will benefit from a parallel programme of organized activities throughout the day. This will allow you to practise the language in a real-life context, while meeting students from all over the world. Exchange and communication between students during leisure time is an important part of language learning.

Accommodation

Host family   
Students stay with host families and therefore benefit from special supervision, offered by local residents. These homes, which are meticulously selected, allow students to discover the English lifestyle and to put into practice at home what they have learnt at school during the day. Rooms are generally shared between students of different nationalities. The host family provides breakfast, a packed lunch and a hot meal in the evening.

Leisure

The activity programme included in your stay offers daily sport, games and excursions in the surrounding area. On the first Monday, a visit to Torbay allows you to familiarize yourself with the town and to discover one of the most beautiful regions of England. During the week, the school organizes (for example) a boat trip to the coastal town of Brixham, a visit to the famous Kents Cavern, or to Paignton zoo, the third largest in England. Trips to leisure centres or aquatic parks are also in the programme. In addition to these daytime activities, two special evenings are offered with activities such as karaoke or a cinema outing. On Saturday, bigger excursions to Exeter, Plymouth or to Dartmoor National Park are also planned into the activity programme. Despite all this it is advisable to take a small amount of pocket money, particularly for public transport ( GBP 13 per week: ∼ CHF 30/EUR 20) and for possible additional activities.
