Our partner school Edinburgh School of English is a reputable school which is noted for the quality of its lessons and its programme of activities. Modern and spacious, the language centre offers an ideal environment for study and for meeting other students in an international atmosphere. Classes comprise of a maximum of 12 students which enables teachers to give them plenty of individual attention. In terms of multimedia, the school is at the cutting edge and enables students to continue studying after lessons in the computerized language laboratory.

Courses

Summer programmes offer 20 periods of 45-minute lessons of general English. Teaching is adapted to the age of the student and is lively and modern, focussing on communication and interactivity. Specialized activities (sports, artistic and cultural), always supervised by professionals, allow students of all nationalities to put into practice what they learnt in class in the morning.

Accommodation

Host family
Staying in a host family is an enriching experience which allows you to practice your English every day in real-life situations. This accommodation option includes full-board. At midday, from Monday to Friday, students receive a hot meal at school. Each morning a bus will come to take you to the residence.

Residence
Staying in a residence gives you the opportunity to live in the company of other international students and to make numerous friends. With the full support of the school staff, you will have your own room in the Edinburgh University residence and will share common areas with the other students (lounges, bathrooms). You will eat your breakfast and evening meals in the residence restaurant; during the week the midday meal is served at the school. Each morning a school bus will collect you at the residence.

Leisure

The activity programme included in your stay provides daily sports, games and excursions to Edinburgh and its surroundings. On the first Monday, a visit to the cultural capital of Scotland will allow you to familiarize yourself with the town. During the week, the school organizes for example a visit to the castles of Edinburgh and Lauriston, a visit to the modern art gallery or to the royal gardens of Scotland. Numerous sports activities are also on the programme to enable you to let off steam (tennis, football, beach volleyball, swimming etc.). In addition to these daily activities, special parties are organized with activities such as Scottish dance, cinema, a treasure hunt or outing to a disco with your friends - supervised by your counsellors. On Saturday, longer excursions are included in the programme in order to discover this magnificent region.
