In addition, in 1991, the school became the centre for the training of teachers of German as a foreign language for all of the organisation. In order to assure the supervision and care of the young student during their stay, the IH activities coordinators stay in the residence and take care of them on a 24-hour basis.

In order to assure the supervision and care of the young student during their stay, the IH activities coordinators stay in the residence and take care of them on a 24-hour basis.

Students of 10-15 years staying in the residence take their classes in the residence itself.

10-12 and 13-15 years
The lessons take place between 9 a.m. and 11.45 a.m. from Monday to Friday. There are 15 lessons of 50 minutes per week and each group has two appointed teachers, for grammar and for conversation. The classes each have a maximum of 15 participants. After lunch, you will have an hour off to relax in the residence. Your activities coordinators will then take advantage of the afternoons to introduce you to cultural, sports and artistic activities. Following the evening meal, you will have even more very enjoyable leisure activities such as creative activities, drama, games, videos, etc.
Please note: the school does not accept complete beginners.

Residence Jugendgästhaus(10-12 and 13-15 years)
You will stay in complete security in a residence surrounded by meadows and a forest in an outlying and very green district of Freiburg. The bedrooms of 4 to 6 beds are equipped with a sink and there is a shower and toilets for every two bedrooms. As far as possible, the two age brackets occupy separate wings. Breakfast and the evening meal will be served to you on-site whilst at lunchtime, you will have your lunch in the city. The building contains several living rooms as well as a large outdoor area with various equipment (table tennis, volleyball). A public swimming pool and a sports centre are a 10-minute walk away from the residence and it takes 25 minutes by tram and by foot to get to the city. In the case of any problems, you will be able to go at any time to the group leaders as they supervise your camp and supervise you on a 24-hour basis.

Residence Jugendgästhaus(10-12 and 13-15 years)

With your activities coordinators, you will play sports, go on visits or play games in a very fun atmosphere. On Saturdays, you will go into the city in order to enjoy current cultural events, including festivals, an open-air circus, a flea market etc. On Sundays, you will go on a full-day excursion to the surroundings of Freiburg. Weekday evenings and during the day on Saturdays are spent with your family.  Generally, the city of Freiburg offers numerous possibilities to play sports and to enjoy yourself. It is a "green" city - the unofficial capital of ecology- with a very vast network of cycle lanes and a large amount of annual sunshine.

If you are staying in the residence, you benefit from two time slots of daily activities during the week (in the afternoon and evening).
