The experience was amazing! I felt very confortable at the school and with my host family. At the school, the staff and teachers were very welcoming and friendly. I also felt good in my class: during the first week, we were 4 students and during the second week, 5! It is very pleasant and useful for the learning process to have contact with many students of other nationalities. I’m surprised to see how much progress I’ve made in such little time. As regards accommodation, I felt very comfortable with my host family: the lady was very nice and discreet. I lived near the school, so I could walk there… which I greatly appreciated.
In short, I would say it was a beautiful experience and I am very happy about it!
After finishing my English course at the London School of English (Holland Park - Communicating effectively in English) I'd like to share the positive experience I've just had.
The first day began with a very warm and very well organized welcome for the new students.
The new ones were interviewed briefly in order to organize the different groups/levels (which worked out perfectly), followed by a tour through the clean and friendly school which is equipped with nice, comfortable classrooms, two computer rooms with printers and everything else you need.
Last but not least the school has a restaurant where you get warm and tasty food from Monday-Friday.
The school organizes activities as well like welcome-drinks on Mondays, a pub tour on Tuesdays etc.
There are max. 8 students per class, which is very helpful as it allows communicative lessons for every student.
The teachers are nice, friendly, professional (they offer an interesting and modern tuition) and are helpful and open to every question.
The school is located in a good area with an excellent connection to the public transport system.
Willing to learn English for your career? I can recommend the London School of English!
I benefitted from a tailor-made programme, with theoretical classes in the mornings and practice in the afternoons or evenings. I needed to achieve fluency and acquire vocabulary in the domains which I like and which I cover professionally, that is, cultural ones: museums, concerts, cinemas and theatres represented our play (and learning) ground. Congratulations to ESL for the organisation of the trip, etc. and for the great accommodation in the town centre!!

In my job, speaking business English is essential. I use English on a daily basis and I take advantage of my holidays to keep up-to-date and perfect my skills. After a first experience with ESL in Australia, I set off for a new destination this year: South Africa. Combining relaxation, discovery of a new country and personal development is my idea of a successful summer.
Convinced by the concept of full immersion language learning, I had the chance to attend English classes for professionals with ESL. Along with the mini-group classes, which were well structured and stimulating, the private lessons were ideal to focus on my own language needs. I took advantage of my trips to Boston and Cape Town to visit new places, discover new things and recharge my batteries. I would like to thank ESL for advising me so well. Thanks to its excellent contacts and knowledge of local realities, they organised my stays with a lot of professionalism.
My language course in China took place in the best conditions thanks to ESL’s expert advice and organisation. The classes were intensive but always practical and motivating. The course brought me a lot, as well on a personal as on a professional level. Being able to hold a basic and informal conversation in Mandarin Chinese can really make a difference to develop your international relations with this big country.
Last December, I decided to go to London to learn English. I never had much time to dedicate to learning English, so I must say that, at the age of 50, my level was quite poor. After this 5-month amazing social, multicultural and intellectual adventure, the result goes far beyond my expectations. I imagined it was impossible to learn English at my age, but I was wrong. I can only encourage people of all ages to follow my path. I am now able to understand and communicate in English. I would like to thank ESL for taking the time to assess my needs and providing me with tailor-made advice.
I had only one week to devote to my language course in France and I had to book it at very short notice, so it was important for me to be able to receive an all-inclusive package, without having to worry about anything. ESL organised everything perfectly: the assistance provided before and during my stay on site was competent and very friendly, everything ran very smoothly. I was satisfied about the small-group language classes too, they were varied and taught by motivated teachers. In conclusion, I know I'll book my next language course with ESL again!
I strongly recommend this combined course. In the mornings, learning in class with others and exchanging ; in the afternoons, improving communication or focusing on specific grammar points in private lessons. Besides, ESL took care of me in a very effective manner. In short: a beautiful experience, both stimulating and relaxing.
Between the end of my previous job and the beginning of my new job in Lucerne, I had the opportunity to book a 5-week language course in England. The teaching was very practice-oriented and covered the basis and theory of the language through simulations of real life situations. St Giles' goal is to allow participants to make themselves understood and understand others during work meetings, negotiations and conversations with the staff. I could develop my English in an optimum way during these five weeks in Brighton and I can only recommend this programme.
With a proper language input, projects not only go faster, but they can also be carried out more precisely. Thanks to a transformation of our work environment, I can now offer our projects to foreign countries as well. This is why, every year, we invest in a 2-week language course abroad. When I had to decide “who” would organize the course, my priorities were to get a course in a well-respected international language school and accommodation in a comfortable residence. ESL could offer me both. The competence of the school and the high standards of the residence allowed me to have a nice stay and successfully achieve my language goals.
The school was excellent, the teachers were very professional and I had a great time in a fabulous city. A language course abroad is a unique experience, not just for young people. When you take a language course abroad, you get to know a country more intensely than through a hectic tourist tour. Staying in a very banal Chinese residential district was a very special experience. The two weeks I spent there made a strong impression on me. In the afternoons, there was always enough time left to explore the city, including tourist attractions.
This is the only way to acquire a specific terminology for work, and the best method to improve your English skills daily. After my stay in London and my “executive” language course, well organized by ESL, I now feel more comfortable in the collaboration with our partners and clients.
Four weeks in London, four “one-to-one” lessons and three hours in mini-group… a jump into cold water? No. My efforts were rewarded by improved language skills and an upgrade from lower to upper intermediate. Did I progress in English? Most certainly. Am I satisfied with the teaching provided by the school? Without hesitating, yes. Satisfied with the all-inclusive package offered by ESL? Naturally! So it's no surprise that I want to renew this experience. In another city, of course: Edinburgh awaits me!
It wasn’t that easy to find a language school which offers French courses for professionals during the Easter holidays. The mix of French classes in the morning and French culture in the afternoon, in the French Riviera, is a successful combination. You can’t expect miracles during a one-week course – but it gave me the impulse to continue learning French and it has remained until this day.
I was very satisfied with my stay in Brighton, where I could attend an English course for executives. The pedagogical team was brilliant, so were the teacher and the rest of the staff. The school was well-equipped with IT material. I stayed with a very nice host family who took great care of me. I progressed a lot thanks to ESL. But I still have a lot of progress to do, so I’ve decided to travel with ESL again and spend, not 2 weeks, but 3 weeks in Malta.
Professionals who want to reach new markets, or people like me, who need to speak several languages, know that speaking only German or English is not enough. To work with the Asian market, it is important to speak the language, but also to know about Chinese culture. There’s no better way to achieve this than visiting the country and immersing yourself in the local life. ESL – Language studies abroad selected a homestay for me, and organised the classes and everything necessary to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Besides, I could learn a lot about Chinese lifestyle first-hand. I must thank the Wang family for this, who welcomed me for a month in its home. Once you arrive, you feel totally comfortable and at home. This is an extremely enriching experience, oriented towards the professional world, and I can only recommend it!
"Ideal stay, very well-organised. A very pleasant setting: an old house in a small town in Kent. Warm welcome, great comfort, family atmosphere, perfect integration. I was treated like a member of the family, Jane and Humphry Evatt took great care of me, and the cooking was excellent too. I was totally integrated into their social life: friends’ visits, family gatherings, cultural outings, walks... Humphry is an exceptional man, with multiple talents along with a natural aptitude to teach: a musician (great cello player: we played together and I could practise the piano daily, as I wanted to) and a cook (we exchanged our recipes and cooked together). Humphry’s teaching didn’t focus on the academic stuff, it was very dynamic and entirely adapted to my personality: the various aspects of the language (grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, idiomatic expressions) were covered in varied ways, which didn’t leave room for boredom. The exercises he offered were also very varied: translation of newspaper articles from French into English, critical commentary in English, listening exercises, presentations to prepare... Thanks to this, I made great progress. I realised it at the end of my stay when I saw how easily I could take part in conversations. I achieved all of the objectives I had set for myself. Many thanks for allowing me to have such an exceptional stay."
