BBELS occupies a beautiful, two-storey building in the heart of the shopping district, close to boutiques, restaurants, cafés, banks, supermarkets and the post office. The school features 14 comfortable, well-equipped and air-conditioned classrooms. In addition, students can benefit from 22 computers and free Wi-Fi connection. The beautiful terrace is the ideal place to meet other students after class or during breaks. A kitchen is available for you to prepare your meals, unless you prefer to meet your friends at the school's café, "Oska". Additionally, BBELS is equipped with easy access for wheelchair users. The school will certainly appeal to those who like relaxed atmospheres or dream of going for a dip in the Pacific before going to classes.

Byron is the most beautiful place Imve been in Australia! After Byron Imve been to Brisbane, Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast... Nothing was that special as Byron Bay - espacially the sunrises were awsome!! I really recommend that place! It's not school like just sitting in the classroom - you go out, having a breakfast, doing a BBQ.... very creative! Unfortunately I had the smallest room but it was still big enough! The big problem was that we were all swiss people - but this was the only house were the national mix was that bad.

BBELS, Byron Bay
Duration: 12 weeks

I stayed in Byron Bay from September to December to attend a Cambridge exam preparation course. These 12 weeks were extraordinary! Byron Bay is a very small town that will change you. This town has everything from the Australian dream. Nature is beautiful, the beaches – to get a tan or play beach volleyball – are great and the waves are perfect for surfing and the evenings are perfect to party like you’re supposed to… A dream! It is said that Byron Bay is the best place to go to in Australia, and it is absolutely true! Since I went to some other cities of the East coast, I can tell you that you will be willing to go back to Byron after a few days! If you are looking for the Australian atmosphere, go there!

BBELS, Byron Bay
Duration: 6 weeks

My stay in Byron Bay was extraordinary. Who would have thought that this 5000-people little town would have so much to offer? People in Byron Bay say that what happens in Byron Bay, stays in Byron Bay. I don’t agree with that, because Byron Bay will stay in my heart forever.

If you don’t know anything about Byron Bay, let me give you some information: the city is located in the north of Australia and offers an amazing weather all year round (I was there in winter and I basically never wore my jacket at night). It’s connected to the world through Brisbane airport (less than a 2 hours drive) and other smaller airports like Gold Coast or Ballina (less than an hour away). The first thing I noticed when I arrived was people’s kindness and cordiality. Don’t be surprised if you hear the famous “G’day” while you cross the street. Byron Bay is also a well-known holiday destination, mostly for surfers, which brings a lot of cultural diversity. In Byron Bay, you won’t meet only Australians. Outside the school, I met people from Canada, US and New Zealand. The weather affects the people a lot: in fact, Byron Bay is a buzzing city, where you can meet people in the streets at any time of the day or night. The live music in the bars also offers a lot of cultural and musical diversity.

The Byron Bay English Language School is even more beautiful than the city itself. Thanks ESL for the recommendation! The staff is very helpful and does everything possible to make your stay perfect. Classes are practice-oriented, so they forced us to speak English very often, since our arrival. I did a General English course and then an additional course to improve my weaknesses, my vocabulary and some Australian expressions.

But the school is not limited to the classes. Every day, Max (who was responsible for the extra-curricular activities) suggested some sport or cultural events (mostly free) to fill up our free time. The goal was not only to spend some good time together, but also to push us to speak English all day, even at weekends and in the most varied situations.

This was definitely the best way to meet people from all over the world and approach different cultures. From this point of view, this experience was very enriching. Friends soon became family and I think that these friendships will last forever. Last but not least, I would like to highlight the fact that BBELS leitmotiv is absolutely perfect: « Learn to live ! ».

BBELS, Byron Bay
Duration: 4 weeks

Only good memories

The best two months of my life! My trip was an incredible experience where the school played an important role. During my language stay in Australia, I felt home since the first day. Not only at school, but also outside – the atmosphere was simply incredible. The location was spectacular: dream beaches were walking distance from the school and I could practice surf and diving. I met some amazing people and today – about a year later – I still have very good friends in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany and Spain! If I could, I would totally do this again!

Host family
Australian families have an innate sense of hospitality and distinguish themselves through their "easy-going" character. Students can go to school by bicycle, which is definitely the best way of getting around in Byron Bay. The school hires bikes to students and makes a parking area available to them. You will stay in a single room with half board during the week and full board at weekends.

Student house (from 18 years)
You can also share a house with other students from the school. The student houses proposed by BBELS are made up of three or four double and single bedrooms, a bathroom, a shared living room/dining room, a washing machine and a kitchen for preparing meals. Bedlinen is provided but you will need to bring your own bath towels. The student houses are also equipped with a free Wi-Fi connection. It will take you approximately ten minutes to reach the school and... the beaches!

Backpackers
Numerous backpackers and hotels offer bedrooms for all budgets which the school can help you book.
Additional information on request.

Please note: during the Blues Festival (Easter time) each year, Byron Bay fills up with visitors. Think of booking your accommodation enough time in advance!

Sea, surf and sun are on the programme, as well a wide range of group and sports activities, outings and parties that will allow the students to get maximum benefit from the exceptional setting of Byron Bay. You can go dolphin and whale watching or sound the ocean depths and discover more than 400 species of marine fauna. Diving lessons are available; you can pass the PADI certificate and even become an instructor! When it comes to music, Byron Bay attracts numerous musicians who, inspired by the beauty of the place, will improvise until dawn...
