I chose London Greenwich to study English because it is a very pleasant town with lots of history and old buildings, but still a modern city.

I think London is the best place to learn “real” English and it is full of things to see and do, including shops, parks, a busy nightlife, museums and monuments. Each time I go out, I can do something new.

I chose London as it seems to be a very big and interesting city, so I liked having the opportunity to spend some weeks here for my holiday. Learning English is important to me as I am a university student and English is very important for communication.

Host family
Sharing in the daily life of an English family is ideal for learning English. From a single person to a large family, the families selected by our partner school are all different but they have all been chosen for their availability and warm welcome and generally live around one hour away from the school. You will have a bedroom equipped with a study desk, access to the telephone, and will be provided with breakfast and dinner from Monday to Friday - or breakfast and one of the two other meals at the weekend. In addition to comfort, you may choose to stay with a host family in order to feel safe being surrounded by members of a same family with whom you will learn about local culture as well as the language in a welcoming and relaxed environment.

McMillan residence (half board: from 16 years / no meals: from 18 years)
For more independence, you may choose to stay in a student residence in the modern buildings of the McMillan Student Village, around one minute away from your English school, where you will be able to meet students from throughout the world. Staying in a single or in a shared room (option available for students over 18 years old only) with a private bathroom, you can have your meals (in the morning and in the evening) in the canteen if you so wish. You also have the possibility of preparing your own meals (in the shared kitchen on each floor or in a private kitchen on request). The residence also offers satellite TV, a library and a computer room. On the practical side of things, bedlinen is provided (but bath towels are not) and it is possible to do your laundry at a small charge. Wi-Fi internet is available for a fee.

Outside of English classes, the Embassy language school offers its students relaxing moments with films, sports or games. At the weekend, visits to important places are offered, including Maritime Greenwich, which has been classified as a World Heritage Site, and Central London, where, from the Tower of London to Madame Tussauds and the large wheel of the London Eye, there is no shortage of attractions. The surroundings of the capital also deserve to be visited, including such places as Stratford-upon-Avon where you will discover the birth house of Shakespeare or Oxford, the mythical university city with its buildings dating from the 12th century.
