Do you think you've made progress?

Testimonials

Jorge Rubio
Jorge Rubio
EC, Auckland
Duration: 8 weeks

I was certain of one thing: if I ever got the opportunity to study English abroad, I would do it. Today, it is extremely important to be able to speak English. The best way to learn a language or improve your language skills is to go to a country where it is spoken. I also knew I would do it outside of Europe, that is, either in the USA or in Canada. But a few hours in the ESL office in Madrid were enough to make me change my mind and I finally chose New Zealand. Auckland is a huge city. The centre is very dense but there are many areas with single-storey houses, which, as the whole, give an impression of great space. As regards the EC School, I can only speak of it in glowing terms. The teaching staff is great. During my stay, I was the only Spanish student at the school. As regards accommodation, I chose to stay with a host family. It was really nice. My hosts were very friendly and welcoming towards me. I recommend this experience to anyone, whatever their age. And of course, I would like to thank ESL for its excellent services, especially Juan, who convinced me to choose this destination.

Host family
Staying with a host family represents an excellent opportunity to develop your language skills and immerse yourself in the culture of the New Zealanders. All of the host families are located in residential areas. You can choose between families who live 30-45 minutes from the school (central) or families who live up to 60 minutes away. They offer you accommodation in a single room with half-board during the week and at the weekends.

Note: It is compulsory for students under 18 to book homestay accommodation and provide a parental consent form.

Empire residence (minimum 4 weeks)
Located just a 10-minute walk from the school, this residence features great city and harbour views! Stay in a single room with ensuite (please note this option has a minimum stay of 3 months) or a shared bathroom, plus a double bed, desk, chair and Wi-Fi (extra charge). Ensuite rooms come with a kitchenette, while a shared kitchen is available to those staying in the other rooms. On-site, you’ll find coin-operated laundry facilities, and just next door is a mini-mart where you can pick up groceries. In less than 15 minutes on foot, you’ll be in Aotea Square in the centre of Auckland!

Barbecues on the beach, a rich cultural programme or football matches...you will inevitably find something to satisfy you in Auckland! Our partner school offers an activities programme which will enrich your language study stay in New Zealand. If you are looking for excitement, you will be able to dive in a cage in the shark tank of Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium...shivers down your spine guaranteed! A mountain bike ride, kayaking, or even rock climbing are possible in this region which offers an unlimited number of outdoor activities. For the less reckless, the school organises excursions to the museums and art galleries of the city. You will have the opportunity to make friends with the other students at the free conversation club organised by the school. You will also have the chance to discover the marvels of New Zealand. In the space of a weekend, you will have the opportunity to head into the forest in order to observe the gigantic Kauri trees, to practice boogie board on the sand dunes or even to discover the picturesque village of Russell. There's no risk of you getting bored in New Zealand!
