Our partner school is located in the centre of Glasgow, just 5 minutes' walk from both the central train and bus stations. On the 2nd floor of a modern-style building, the course centre includes 10 very well-equipped classrooms. You'll also find a computer room with internet and multimedia programmes to reinforce the classes, free Wi-Fi and a variety of books, CDs and DVDs available to students. The school regularly provides newspapers and magazines that you can read while relaxing in the common room, which also has a vending machine for hot drinks and a cold water dispenser. The excellence of its courses and the quality of the teachers make this an excellent option for learning English in Glasgow.

Sehr wenig Deutschsprachige, was den Lernprozess enorm unterstützt. Gebe gerne auch telefonisch Auskunft, jedoch erst ab 6. August. Herzlichen Fank so weit, war wirklich ne tolle Zeit in Glasgow.

I went to the Glasgow Schools of English for 4 weeks and I tried to refresh my English knowledge with an intensive course. As far as I’m concern, I succeeded! Despite the bad weather prejudices, Glasgow has many things to offer: museums, pubs or cafés. I was never bored! If the weather allows it, you can explore the surroundings for a cheap price. I went to the Highlands, to Loch Lomond and to Edinburgh for one day.
Scotland is a beautiful land and it was such a pleasure to explore it. I didn’t have any problem fitting in, even though the Scottish accent is quite difficult to understand at first. ESL organization was perfect; everything was ready before my departure.

Glasgow School of EnglishGlasgow
Duration: 4 weeks

The landscapes, the cities and the people – just amazing! My decision to go to Scotland for a month was the best I could make, I would do it again anytime! This summer I was able to significantly improve my English and to take part in a cultural exchange. In Glasgow I met students from all over the world. Together we improved our English and learned plenty of things about other cultures and mentalities. I spent my afternoons and weekends exploring the cities and the countryside. By doing so, I discovered two of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life: St Andrew on the east coast and Millport, on a small island in the west of the country, I was impressed by this unspoilt nature and that’s why I want to come back one day. I would like to discover this breathtakingly beautiful nature even more. During my stay, ESL advised and helped me. They took care of the whole organisation and made my planning easier. Thus, my stay was a successful continuous training and an exciting holiday!

Glasgow School of English, Glasgow
Duration: 12 weeks

My three-month language stay was a very good experience. I have greatly improved my English, even though I encountered very strong accents, the setting was very nice and the people very welcoming. There are a lot of very interesting activities to do in Glasgow (museums, historical monuments as well as pubs). For the stays that last several weeks, the best thing to do is renting a car and going to visit the country – its huge castles and its distilleries. Scotland has beautiful landscapes as well as an exceptional historical heritage (from the Middle Ages with William Wallace to Adam Smith in the Age of Enlightenment). I also discovered a great variety of beers and whiskeys with unknown flavours, so if you are into that kind of products, go ahead!

The school encourages linguistic exchange between the various participants by organising extra-curricular activities accompanied by the English teachers. Every Monday afternoon, students and teachers meet and chat over a cup of coffee at the "Coffee Club". Amongst the other possibilities on offer, you find a museum visit in order to view the fabulous Burrell collection or an excursion to Pollok Country Park, ice-skating in the city centre or a visit to The Lighthouse, the famous museum of design and architecture in Glasgow.
Full-day excursions will allow you to discover a whisky distillery or Millport, an island located off the turbulent west coast of Scotland. A boat trip on Loch Lomond or a bus outing to The Trossachs, a wooded valley which has inspired numerous poets and authors through the beauty of its natural setting, will also be included in the programme. And finally, there will be impromptu visits in the various districts of this fascinating city!
