A homestay provides unbeatable added course value: you’ll speak Portuguese, savour local dishes and learn more about customs and habits with your hosts. Most families live less than half an hour’s walk from the school. You’ll have a single room (equipped with air-con and ceiling fans), access to Wi-Fi (most of the time) and share the bathroom and other common rooms. Weekly laundry and breakfast and dinner are included, though the option to not include meals is available. The school is closed over Carnival week, but students can stay with the host family for an additional supplement.

The aim of our partner school in Olinda is to teach you Portuguese, but also provide you with a deeper insight into Brazilian culture. For this reason, it offers an exciting leisure programme, including cultural outings to Olinda and Recife, where students can visit open-air marketplaces, historical churches, museums, restaurants and bookshops, before watching a live football game. On weekdays, numerous optional activities will allow you to learn more about Brazilian music, cinema and culture, including Capoeira, which is much more than a dance style.
At the weekend, students have the opportunity to relax on beautiful beaches stretching to the horizon or explore Brazil during exciting excursions: discover Recife’s historical centre, São José’s market, Galinhas’s harbour or the beaches of Itamaracá, Gaibu, Tamandaré and Carneiros. After spending some time with the warm and joyful Brazilian people, you will come back home with only one thing in mind: going back there as soon as possible!
