Dublin’s most famous shopping destination is Grafton Street, which was briefly one of the most expensive shopping streets in the world (for retailers anyway) during the Irish property boom. It’s much more reasonable again now. The side streets also contain lots of smaller shops. Alternatively, the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is a gorgeous Georgian Townhouse with galleries, shops and various antique jewels.
While Dublin’s shops are excellent, its markets may be even better. The weekend Blackrock Market is perfect if you want to grab a one-off bargain. Cow’s Lane Fashion & Design Market in Temple Bar runs each Saturday afternoon throughout the year and everyday in December, featuring all kinds of designers. On the last Sunday of every month, the Dublin Flea Market takes over the co-op on Newmarket Square and has everything from used bikes to classic vinyl. The area around Francis Street is famous for antiques, so get ready to negotiate a bargain!
