18th January – 3rd February 2018: Igloofest
Think dancing yetis, glowing igloos and thumping electronic music in the Old Port of Montreal for one of the city’s most rollicking music festivals. Bundle up!
20th January – 11th February 2018: Fête des neiges
On an island in the middle of the St Lawrence River, this “snow festival” takes place in the Parc Jean-Drapeau, which transforms yearly into a winter wonderland. Snow tubing, ice-skating, archery, an ice pirate ship playground and more await cold-weather lovers!
22nd February – 4th March 2018: Montreal en lumière
Who says you have to stay inside in winter? This massive festival incorporates foodie events, fireworks, light projections, music, theatre, circus and dance and culminates in the Nuit Blanche, with hundreds of free activities.
27th May 2018: Montreal Museums Day
With free admission to more than 30 museums, free use of the Bixi public bicycles and a free shuttle service travelling between the museums, there’s no reason not to take advantage of this fantastic freebie!
6th June – 9th June 2018: Montreal Beer Festival
Wet your whistle right in downtown Montreal at the Palais des Congrès, a modern exhibition space hosting scores of brewers for this fabulous beer festival. Admission is free, although you will have to purchase tasting coupons.
7th June – 10th June 2018: Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada
Racing fans get geared up year after year as the famous Formula 1 drivers make their way to Montreal. Tickets can cost a pretty penny so book early if you’re a diehard fan!
28th June – 7th July 2018: Montreal International Jazz Festival
Free concerts al fresco, more than 1,000 shows, food carts and of course, the world’s best jazz musicians await at this prestigious festival.
11th July – 29st July 2018: Just for Laughs Festival
This internationally renowned comedy festival takes over Montreal throughout the better part of July with big name comedians drawing huge crowds. Insider tip: sign up as a volunteer to experience the festival from the inside!
20th August – 25th August 2018: Montreal Fashion & Design Festival
Proclaimed the biggest outdoor event in fashion design, this Canadian catwalk attracts the artsy set from all corners of the world. There are plenty of free activities and shows if you can’t swing tickets to the ritziest events!
23rd August – 3rd September 2018: Montreal Film Festival
Celebrating films from all around the world, this international film festival honours new, independent and adventurous film projects in cinemas all across Montreal, including one that’s outdoors.
