Language course in Tokyo: Shopping

Tokyo’s train stations are often a good place to start your search for the best shops. The Yokocho alleys (see Tokyo attractions) are usually found nearby and offer everything from sake to Korean trinkets. At Tokyo Station, an underground shopping centre features many luxury brands, but also plenty of affordable goods. The area around Akihabara Station is known as Denkigai, or Electric Town. It is the heart of Japanese otaku culture, with maid cafes, cosplay bars and underground idol theatres. Nakamise is one of the oldest shopping centres in Japan and is good for typical Japanese souvenirs such as yukata, keychains and folding fans.
