It was a very successful trip! The school is well organised, the activities are very interesting and pleasant. With the school, I visited the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher. Really amazing!
The school welcomed students from all over the world. Obviously, there were some people from my country (Italy) but not many – and no one in my group; and anyway, most of them had a good English level, so it was not a problem for them to speak English with me. This is why, during my first week, I never spoke my native language! Time flew during classes; my teachers were very prepared and the school staff was always very helpful. I felt so good there!
For two weeks, I stayed with a host family. My “mum” did her best since the very first day to make me feel at home and her husband and children were very nice and helpful. For example, they gave me a lift to the city centre a few times. This sense of hospitality, which is typically Irish, impressed me every time and I enjoyed it a lot.
My host mum was also a very good cook… But sometimes she got over-excited and gave me her personal version of my dear Italian pizza! It was so funny! Once, she gave me a pizza with tomato, mozzarella, salami, spicy salami, corn and mushrooms. And of course, potatoes on the side – as usual. And then yogurt and desserts, as she knew I loved them. I didn’t want to leave anything in my plate, she was too nice!
To sum up, I was more than happy about my stay in Galway. I know that two weeks is not enough, but thanks to the school, my host family and the fabulous Irish people, I was able to improve my language skills quite a lot. I didn’t think that I would improve so much in such a short time. I would love to repeat the experience!
