1st May – 11th May 2020: TradFest Edinburgh
Short for “traditional,” the TradFest celebrates the best of the best in Scottish folk music, storytelling and film. It’s a great way to see how the traditions of the past are carried on today.

There’s nothing quite like Scotch whisky. This festival held in the Assembly Rooms on George Street is the perfect way to get your feet wet in the world of whisky!
17th June – 28th June 2020: Edinburgh International Film Festival
Hollywood comes to Edinburgh for this fantastic summer film festival honouring indie hits as well as big-screen blockbusters. Make sure to attend a screening if you’re in town!
18th June – 21st June 2020: The Royal Highland Show
This festival dedicated to farming, food and rural life gives a glimpse into the traditional agrarian lifestyle typical of Scotland, and the Highlands in particular. See competitions ranging from show jumping to livestock judging, sheep shearing and more! And don’t forget about all the farm-fresh food that will be on offer plus local wines and beers – the perfect sunny day activity!
17th July – 26th July 2020: Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival
Edinburgh is certainly a musical city, and this international jazz and blues festival is world renowned for bringing together some of the best artists on the scene.
7th August – 29th August 2020: The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo
Having nothing to do with inking your skin, this “tattoo” refers to a performance by a military drum corps. Performed at the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, drum corps from almost 50 countries gather for this festive event to perform their tattoos. It doesn’t disappoint!
7th August – 31st August 2020: Edinburgh Fringe Festival
This world-famous festival is comprised of literally thousands of performances ranging from theatre to dance, music, spoken word, circus, comedy and so much more. It’s a festival you’ve got to experience at least once in your lifetime!
November 2020 –January 2021: Edinburgh’s Christmas
Edinburgh is an enchanting place to spend Christmas time. Visit the Christmas Market, Ferris wheel and ice rink in Princes Gardens, and don’t forget to get your mulled wine from one of the many street vendors. Happy holidays!
30th December 2020 – 1st January 2021: Edinburgh Hogmanay
No city does New Year’s quite like Edinburgh! The Hogmanay festivities include a torchlight procession to kick off the celebration, plus a massive street party on New Year’s Eve where you’ll be surrounded by thousands singing Auld Lang Syne as the clock strikes midnight. A New Year’s Day polar plunge into the North Sea known as Loony Dook rounds out the celebration.
