Five days and nights of quality electronic entertainment around the city. Nuits Sonores welcomes 80,000 festival goers and 250 artists.

Theatre, dance, music and circus arts are performed in the Roman amphitheatre above the city, as well as venues in the city centre.
14th July 2020: Fête nationale (Bastille Day)
Commemorating the start of the French Revolution, France’s national day sees street parties and fireworks on Fourvière Hill.
10th October – 18th October 2020: Festival Lumière
The Lumière Film Festival is an annual film event held in Lyon since 2009. It is named in honor of the Lumière Brothers, who invented Cinematography in Lyon in 1895. The festival celebrates the history of cinema, especially retrospectives, restored prints and tributes.
19th November 2020: Fête du Beaujolais Nouveau
Fireworks, music and festivals celebrate the release of the first local wine of the season, just weeks after the wine's grapes have been harvested. The largest celebration (called Les Sarmentelles) is held in the town of Beaujeu, around 80km north of Lyon, although there are parties across the region.
4th December – 7th December 2020: Fête des Lumières
There are a huge number of small festivals on the cultural calendar in Lyon, but the best known is the Fête des Lumières, which lasts for four days around 8th December each year. Traditionally, every house in the city burns candles on their windowsills to create a spectacular effect. Nowadays, much of the city is bathed in bright, colourful lights, including large buildings and sculptures.
