Accommodation

Host family
In order to learn a language, there's nothing better than full immersion in a host family. They offer a half-board option in a single room and in some of these, you will be able to have the use of a private bathroom. You can get to most of the host families by foot and for those which are further away, you can take the bus. Most of the families live less than a half an hour away from the school.

Shared apartment "Sandhurst House"
The apartments proposed by the IH school are located in a quiet district only a stone's throw away from the centre of Belfast and the main bus stations. Located only a few minutes' walk away from the school, the apartments occupy a modern building, which was recently built. They have all the necessary comfort, including one or two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a WC and one or two  bathrooms. Bedlinen and bath towels will be made available to you on your arrival. You will also have access to a washing machine and a WiFi connection within the apartment. From the apartments, situated close to the university campus, you will easily be able to access numerous bars, restaurants and shops.
Please note that the bedrooms, notably for individual use, may be booked for two people, if you are travelling as a couple.

Queen’s Elms Residence
This residence is located in a wooded and quiet area in the southern part of the town. Its location, away from the urban hustle and bustle, along with the large size of its premises make it a perfect place to enjoy calm and serenity. But make no mistake about it - the university is only a 15-minute walk away and the city is close enough. You will be right next to Lisburn Road, a lively street with shops, cafés and restaurants and only a 20-minute walk from Botanic Avenue, which is a great meeting place for students.
All of the rooms offered at the residence include a private bathroom as well as Wi-Fi internet access. The students can use the fully equipped kitchen to prepare their meals (10-11 students per kitchen). But you can also choose to eat in the University cafeteria. In the comfortable lounge, you will meet other students from the whole world. Every week, you will be provided with clean bedlinen and towels. There is a paying laundry room available for students’ use and you can buy tokens to use it. The reception runs 24h/24.

Leisure

The school proposes a very large number of varied activities. The guided visits of the city allow students to get to know each other better whilst discovering the places of interest of Belfast, the colourful and elegant boutiques and the warm atmosphere of the old pubs. Sport also occupies an important place, with the choice of fishing, cycling, tennis, golf...there's something for all tastes! During the weekends, the school organises outings to discover the surroundings, including the Antrim coast and the Giant's Causeway.

Testimonial

Cyril Praz I chose to come to Ireland and especially to Belfast because I love irish music and I always dreamt of seeing the Irish countryside with its beautiful green hills. Belfast is a medium size city. You can get around very easily on foot and most things are within walking distance. The school apartments are great and very near the school. The history of this city is perhaps troubled but also very interesting. One of the first things you will realize is that the Irish are very friendly, they will always help you and of course, drink a guiness (or two) with you. The school is also very friendly with its lovely teachers who will laugh with you and make learning English fun. Classes are full of interesting activities, so that learning English is not a punishment but a pleasure ! The countryside is amazing and the cottages are very nice. In Ireland, there are also lots of beautiful old houses and castles that will remind you of the age of knights. If you travel around the country you should take the costal road because the landscape is simply wonderful. Belfast is a beautiful city with the River Lagan flowing through the town and its victorian buildings. Finally, I really enjoyed learning English in Belfast. I definitely want to come back here again, maybe for my next holiday !
