School

This school is an invitation to excellence! Located in Chestnut Hill, one of Boston’s most stylish and exclusive districts, it is set on the campus of Pine Manor College, one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. It therefore provides an exceptional environment in which to study English and a unique opportunity to be immersed in a preserved area surrounded by a vast park. In the large, comfortable classrooms, state-of-the art equipment supports the classes taught by competent and motivated teachers. You will also make use of several libraries, free Internet access via Wi-Fi, a fitness room, a sports hall (basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, football), outdoor football and softball fields, and a cross-country track, entirely contained on campus. These sporting facilities are shared with the students of Pine Manor College and available free of charge, except during lessons given by instructors - the facility booking board shows details of classes and slots available. In the dance studio, you can take part in optional classes and workshops at an additional charge. In the cafeteria, a wide choice of cold and hot meals is offered to students. The course centre is located 15 minutes away from Boston city centre by subway. There is a ten-minute walk to the closest subway station and a shuttle runs at fixed times between the campus and the city centre.

Accommodation

Host family
Staying with a host family and enjoying safe accommodation in the city centre is beneficial at several levels. In full immersion, it is easier to learn the language and you can benefit from interesting conversations with your hosts to learn more about Boston and the daily life of an American family! You will have your own room and share the other rooms with your hosts. You will have access to the Internet and receive half board. Once a week, you can use the family’s laundry facilities to do your personal laundry. Please note that you need to bring your own bath towels. The host families live thirty minutes away from the school by bus on average.

Residence
Located within the campus of the course centre, this beautiful residence offers double and single rooms with TV lounges on each floor in a peaceful and green environment. Six students share one bathroom, including a shower and two utility sinks. The students are provided with full board (19 meals per week, served in the cafeteria of the campus) and can use the coin-operated laundry facilities of the residence. Bedlinen and bath towels are provided and changed every week. A weekly housekeeping service is responsible for cleaning the common areas. This option is a great way to experience college life - in America!

Leisure

Among Boston’s numerous attractions, you might want to visit Quincy Market and marvel at its 150 or so restaurants, boutiques and entertainment options. Or walk along the famous Freedom Trail, which explores the history of Boston through a 4-kilometre-long path. If you choose to visit the Museum of Fine Arts, you will get a great insight into Boston’s cultural influence. Take a boat trip on one of the famous Ducks and get a great view of Boston from the River Charles. Sports fans will also visit the Fenway Park Stadium and attend a Boston Celtics or Boston Red Socks match. But there is nothing like practising sport actively, and in that respect, the campus of our partner school offers a wide range of options: football, tennis, running, basketball, volleyball, badminton… Form a team and go for it!
