Colón Language Centre

Founded in 1952, Colón Language Centre is one of the most established schools in Germany today. Its three buildings, located in a pedestrian zone in the heart of the city, house some 50 teachers and 600 students, from both around the world and from Germany itself, as the institution is also a recognised centre for continuing education. This range of cultures reflects the ethnic diversity that Hamburg is known for. Our partner school has developed its own teaching manual, and uses numerous interactive methods to help you learn German.

Accomodation

Host family
Host families are all chosen with care by our partner school, and live in the city’s residential districts, about 20-45 minutes by public transport from the school. Students have their own bedrooms, and breakfast and dinner are provided daily, making this an economical option. It’s also a great opportunity to practise the German language while discovering the local way of life.
Colón School Residence
Located right in the heart of Hamburg’s city-centre, the residence is uniquely for students of the Colón Language Centre. You will share an apartment located in the school building Colonnaden 47, where most of the classrooms are also located. Accommodation is in single or double bedrooms. The rooms are cleaned daily from Monday to Friday, and the linen is changed once per week. The bathrooms are shared with the other students. Sheets and linen are provided. Each bedroom also has its own satellite TV and radio. Note: students must arrive and depart on Fridays only and there are no cooking facilities in the residence.

Leisure

Hamburg offers a wide variety of social and sports activities. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy numerous excursions and tours of the city and its surrounds. Discover, for example, the famous Brasserie Hamburg or the television studios. The team at Colón Language Centre is at your disposal to help you plan your free time, and also proposes trips to Lübeck, Sylt or Bremen.
