Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Bath is one of the most beautiful towns in England. Everything goes back to the 18th century, when much rebuilding and expansion transformed the town, in response to the demand for elegant accommodation for visitors attracted to Bath as a pleasure resort. Well before, the Romans had discovered a source of hot water here (the only one in the country) and had built a thermal baths complex, the vestiges of which are remarkable well preserved. Today, Bath is a university-town, where festivals follow one after another, culminating in May-June with the international festival of music and dance. For a little town, Bath has a very broad music scene: rock, pop, techno, jazz and classical. This is due in part to the proximity of Bristol, a beacon for lovers of electro, trip-hop and rock music. And for those who want to spend a day in London, it’s only 90 minutes away by train!
