Learn Portuguese in Faro, Portugal

Faro
The capital of the beautiful Algarve was first an important centre for Roman trading and then a Moorish metropolis before becoming an important provincial town after the Christian conquest in 1249. However, it wasn't until 1580 that Faro was given the status of regional capital. Important relics of Arab and Roman occupation and from the medieval period are the delight of culture and history enthusiasts. Faro has succeeded in preserving this unique, typically Portuguese charm. Today an important seaside resort, no other Algarve town has so much to offer in terms of art, culture, shopping and celebrations. Portugal's second student town is brimming with energy and life all year round. Not far away, the Ilha do Faro is renowned for its parties - not to be missed! Don't hesitate to take a weekend and travel a little further afield, to discover the beautiful Alentejo region. Gastronomic capital, famous for its wines, dances and parties from a bygone age when time seemed to stand still.
