Spanish school in Playa Jaco: Academia Tica

Our partner school Academia Tica is situated in a very quiet area on the Calle Naciones Unidas, also known as the “calle ricos y famosos” by the locals. The school is ideally situated, with shops, restaurants, medical health centres, pharmacies and Internet cafés located nearby. The beach is only around 15 minutes away by foot. The language school building contains 4 classrooms, a kitchen, a large covered terrace, a small swimming pool and outside, there is a large garden that extends over 1000m2, where students can go to relax and chat with their new friends during breaks and after class.

Host family
You will live with a Costa Rican family and practise Spanish at all times, while discovering the local culture. You will stay in a double or individual room, will half-board provided and your laundry washed once per week. The families are located not far from the school; you can easily reach it on foot.
Shared apartments
If you would like to have more independence, opt for a shared apartment. The apartments are well equipped: bathroom, equipped kitchen, washing machine, television and bed linen are provided. The apartments are cleaned once a week. You can stay in a double or single room and share your apartment with 1 to 4 other students.

The school organises different activities to make your time in Costa Rica more enjoyable. On your arrival, a staff member will show you around the town. Following this, every second Tuesday you can participate in a Latin American dance class or, on Thursday afternoons, go on a half-day excursion to the national parks Carara and Manuel Antonio. In Playa Jaco, you can also play a multitude of sports, rent bikes or surf boards and discover the “canopy tours”. 12 km from Playa Jaco, the Villas Galetas hotel organises concerts and other shows regularly in its amphitheatre.
