Language school London , British Study Centre (BSC)

School

Close to famous Oxford Street and the Bond Street and Baker Street tube stations, our partner school has all the modern facilities you need to make progress in English. Apart from the 16 bright and spacious classrooms (23 during the high season), students have access to a resource centre with a library, audio and CD-rom material, a computer room with flat-screen computers where they can access the Internet and make use of computerised language-learning methods. The school also has a WiFi network. There is a study centre where students can take university-type courses in Business, Computers, Hotel Management and Tourism, as well as a Job Club.

Trimester, semester, academic year
Our partner school, BSC, offers an ideal study programme for long-term stays. You will be able to acquire sound language skills and to validate them thanks to an official exam (Cambridge, IELTS, TOEIC). If your objective is to obtain an everyday command of English and to gain a deep understanding of the mentality and lifestyle of Londoners, what better way than by finding a job! BSC proposes a specific service, the "job club" which facilitates the access to information concerning student jobs. In this way, the school becomes a favourable platform for those who wish to find a part-time job during their studies. The job club gives appointments to interested students for information on potential employers (bars, hotels, promotional work, boutiques, etc.) and informs the participants on the laws and modalities in force. Free of charge, the job club also offers a complementary personalised service for correcting/adapting students' CVs.

London abounds with job opportunities for students. For this reason, we have put in place, with our partner schools, a specific service, the «Job Club». This meeting place offers a free interfact between the local market and the student community. It is an effective exchange platform which, thanks to the advice of professionals, to the assistance of the school and to the experience of former students, will allow you to find a job which is compatible with your studies and your availabiltiy (in this case, the standard course will be the best suited). It is also a good opportunity to extend your stay after your academic course.

The Job Club meets up regularly and all interested students can participate it in for free.
You will find there:
• advice for your job search
• current information on the jobs available in the city
• assistance for writing/correcting your CV
• useful information on the laws in force, employees' rights, insurance, minimum wage, etc.
• meetings during which various speakers will present various job opportunities to you

Here are the main areas which offer numerous possibilities for finding a job:
Bars, hotels, cafés, restaurants, clubs, shops, services, administration, promotional work, handing out flyers, transport, handling of materials, tourism, travel and sports events. etc. If you are motivated, flexible and ready to devote the time required by our employer and by the job...then Europe opens its arms to you!

Accommodation

For those who wish for it, we organise accommodation during the first part of the programme which concerns the courses in London or in Brighton, either in a host family or in a shared apartment. For the second part of the programme, the accommodation is generally included in the contract, in various forms. Effectively, in some hotels, the participants may be accommodated in a single or shared room for a favourable price, destined for the staff of the establishment. Sometimes the meals are included, otherwise, a kitchen shared between residents is available. In other hotels, the accommodation is deducted directly from the salary (approx. 10% of the salary).
